Job Description

An Associate Project Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of small to medium complexity projects which may contain a technical or software implementation component. This includes all project phases (planning, executing, controlling, and closing). They are also responsible for accurately assessing the progress of the project and controlling any issues that arise. They drive successful completion of an assigned project - on time and within budget, assuring the solution aligns with and meets the business objective. They will serve as a focal point for communications between the project team, Program Management, Business Owner, and Executive Sponsor. They may also be responsible for assisting a Project Manager on larger, more complex projects.

Responsibilities

Provides leadership, guidance, and project management methodologies to plan, monitor, and implement projects so that they will complete on time and within budget assuring the solution aligns with / meets the business and stakeholder objective. 25%

With the Business Owner, serve as a key point of contact for the project providing effective and timely project communications to the project team and key stakeholders, including project status reports and other required reporting. 20%

Works with project team members to coordinate and monitor progress against project plan. 15%

Works with impacted Business Units to ensure a quality implementation of project deliverables (technology, training, documentation, etc.) and that the new solution is adopted, and new process control procedures are in place. Reviews project work products/deliverables to assure results align with the methodology/support the project objectives. 10%

Request appropriate resources based on required skill sets. Ensure resource managers are aware of the level of commitment required of team members. 10%

Evaluate changes in scope, risk, and schedule, assess impact on project plan, and coordinate recommendations to the leadership team for adjustments in the project scheduled/budget. 5%

Work with Procurement as required. 5%

Support execution team with resolution of roadblocks and interdependencies. Partner with technical and functional teams external to the project to ensure their tasks are completed as required. 5%

Keeps up-to-date and educated in skills related to all project management and ensures this information is disseminated throughout the process. Educates team members in project management principles, methods, processes and tools and provides input to team members' performance appraisal process. 5%
