POSITION SUMMARY: The Clinical Analyst translates data into actionable information that assists leadership with decision making for operational and strategic areas including improved clinical outcomes, productivity improvement, cost optimization, staffing, clinical research, and system integration. The Clinical Analyst is responsible for timely, innovative analysis and interpretation, employing sophisticated modeling techniques, building business intelligence applications, and presenting recommendations to management. Works with leadership throughout the Ministry to analyze operational, clinical, and strategic performance to identify gaps, establish targets and devise the most efficient and effective methods for measuring and displaying performance, including training for business intelligence and analytic tools. The Clinical Analyst helps OSF improve its healthcare delivery system by using analytical tools, data modeling, and problem solving techniques to transform data, analyze the results, synthesize solutions, and support decision-making.

Qualifications:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing

Experience: Three years of experience in healthcare, with at least one year clinical experience.

Licenses/Certifications: RN license in the state of Illinois

Epic Clarity data model fundamentals training is required within 90 days of employment and certification within 6 months of employment. Certification must be maintained as new version training is released.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Master's degree in nursing or other healthcare field is preferred. A specialization in informatics or a related area is preferred.

Other skills/knowledge: Must be able to manage risk and ambiguity, work effectively with operational staff, leadership, and clinicians to define scope, and be able to manage multiple and often changing priorities. Time management skills required to deliver high-quality reports and information in a dynamic environment with critical deadlines.

Strong analytical skills are required to address clinical, operational and system related problems, to gather and interpret clinical and financial data, and to prepare clear, concise management reports.

Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills are required to share complex information with leaders across the ministry. Previous experience preparing and delivering both small and large group presentations to administrators, physicians, and others is preferred.

Knowledge of the OSF HealthCare specific clinical and financial systems including Epic, Midas, Crimson, Strata, PeopleSoft, Premier, etc. is desirable.

Excellent analytical application skills (SQL, Business Objects, Crystal Reports, Access, Qlikview, Tableau, TIBCO Spotfire, MicroStrategy, Excel with attention to Pivot tables, PowerPivot, PowerQuery, Data Model, etc.) are preferred with the ability to become an expert in new information systems quickly. Development expertise with web applications or business intelligence platforms is preferred. Able to evaluate technology in context of process & reporting needs and utilize such technology applications for creating reports. 

Demonstrated history of using reporting, spreadsheet, database, and statistical applications is preferred. Must demonstrate analytical skills necessary to analyze both quantitative and qualitative data and find practical solutions to difficult and complex problems. 

Expertise with database design principles, methodologies and tools, including, but not limited to, work flows, field structure, table layout, joins, etc. Experience developing streamlined user interfaces and building applications that graphically display complex quantitative data.

Independent judgment is required to prioritize tasks and projects and work without a significant amount of day to day supervision on routine or recurring analyses. Licensure/Certifications:
