Be a part of the dynamic rehabilitation services team at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina We are seeking a casual rehab aide to assist with all disciplines within rehabilitation services. This may include setting up and assisting with direct patient care, patient transport (and monitoring patients during these activities). The rehab aide is responsible for cleaning, maintaining, and inventorying of equipment and durable medical equipment for patient use and communicating with vendors regarding equipment inventories. The aide will maintain and clean all department treatment areas and assist with orientation of new staff, and orientation and training of volunteers.
Casual position, opportunities to pick up shifts as available, both weekday and weekend.
Schedule: one weekend (Saturday/Sunday) per month.

M Health Fairview Rehabilitation offers a range of services that serve patients across 10 acute-care hospitals, 3 post-acute settings and 70 outpatient adult and pediatric therapy clinics. Consisting of Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy as well as Audiology and Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehab, our therapists collaborate with colleagues in all medical settings and offer dozens of specialty programs. Responsibilities/Job Description:
Assist with patient care, under the direction of a therapist, issue equipment to patients, clean equipment and Rehab spaces, complete light clerical tasks, and assist with patient transport to/from Rehab gyms.
Provides patient transfers and transport
Follows accurate procedure when completing/assisting with patient transfers to ensure safety of patient and self
Transports assigned patients in a safe and timely manner
Observes patient condition during transport and reports adverse symptoms to therapy or nursing staff
Prints up schedule of transports from Epic
With appropriate training may assist with patient care as delegated and under the supervision of a Certified/Licensed Rehab Professional
Including set-up of treatment equipment, monitoring patient activities, scoring of tests
Immediately reports any observed change in patient status to supervising Certified/Licensed Rehab Professional
May need to utilize Epic to check for patient weight/height and weight-bearing status
Prepares, maintains, and cleans department/treatment areas in compliance with safely and infection control standards
Complete cleaning per schedule
Complete maintenance, temperature, and safety checklist
Complete required checklists
Assists with ordering, inventorying, issuing and verification of billing of supplies and/or patient treatment equipment, including rental equipment
Knowledge of varying requirements for payor reimbursement of issued medical equipment, including waivers for non-covered equipment and Medicare primary walker issuance.
Ability to navigate in Epic to print up face sheet

Addresses patients/visitors in a professional and positive manner
Answers phones promptly and courteously
Protects confidentiality of protected patient information while working in a highly visible environment
Demonstrates the ability to perform multiple, simultaneous tasks in an environment faced with interruptions
Demonstrates awareness of and compliance with department efficiency standards, attendance, time management and prioritization.
Participates in department, facility process/quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
Required
Active Minnesota Basic Life Support Certification
Preferred
Highschool Diploma or Equivalent
Curiosity about Rehab Services or Healthcare fields
Continuing Education and passionate about career path of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, or other rehabilitation services (cardiac, pulmonary, etc.)
