Overview:
The Manager of Vocational Rehab is responsible for the daily operations of the Vocational Rehabilitation Department; specifically the administration, supervision of team members, program development, and service offerings for clients of the Vocational Rehabilitation Department. Understands financial reports, gathers statistics, and manages staff to insure business & operational goals and objectives are met. Maintains a sound professional philosophy and high standards of participant care, education, and research within the department. Is responsible for achieving and maintaining CARF, JCAHO, NJDVRS and other regulatory agency standards.

Responsibilities:
A day in the life of a Manager Vocational Rehab at Hackensack Meridian Health may include:

 

Assures quality and quantity of staff performance and scheduling. Responsible for the completion of staff performance evaluations in accordance with timelines set by Human Resources. Provides on-going feedback and counseling to improve performance. Delegates workload and monitors efficiency to assure client needs are met. Establishes education/training activities to meet staff needs. Engage in team building activities.

Supports the team in vocational rehabilitation counseling on an individual basis that demonstrates a high quality of clinical skills, methods, and techniques. Provides support and direction in program's case management services. Identifies potential and actual crises situations and demonstrates an ability to intervene effectively. Assists program participants in developing a realistic discharge plan that provides continuity of services.

Reviews program referrals to assure they are appropriate to the Scope of Service. Reviews informative concise and timely reports, plans, assessments, notes, etc. prepared by staff that meet regulatory, funding sources, facility, and departmental standards.

Ensures staff compliance with department/facility policies and procedures as well as departmental monitoring agencies. Assists in department marketing and business plan. Manages financial reports, gathers statistics, etc to ensure business goals and objectives are met. Conducts performance improvement on a regular basis. Adjusts Performance Improvement activity and monitors to reflect identified needs within the department.

Maintains a professional and supportive environment for the clients served.

Collaborates with the executive and management team of the organization to create and maintain appropriate areas within the organization for the persons served to participate in worker skill development activities. The Manager will also work collaboratively with the business community to develop external relationships that further support the department clientele's vocational development.

Other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Masters Degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling or related field from an accredited university.

Minimum of five years experience in a rehabilitation setting to include two years supervisory experience, program development, and fiscal management.

 

Licenses and Certifications Required:

PLEASE NOTE: Exception for new hires only. Must attain CRC or NJ LRC within one year of employment.
