Short Description:
Works with manager of Perfusion and other staff perfusionist or Operating Room managers to provide clinical services and patient care within the scope of the practice at Cooper University Hospital

Essential Functions:

Clinical duties include cell saver and platelet gel therapy, assist in transport of intra-aortic balloon.

Learn proper documentation and charting requirements for cell saver and platelet gel cases.

Support perfusion before during and after cardiac surgical procedures: set-up, prime, break-down, cleaning of heart-lung machine, cell saver machine and heater coolers.

Assist with transporting patient to and from OR bed and to and from unit bed if necessary.

Assist with the POC responsibilities such as with our anticoagulation devices, 5 cell saver machines, 2 platelet gel machines, etc.

Learn the specific maintenance/cleaning/disinfection process of all heater-coolers/cell savers/platelet gel machines and our heart lung machines.

Assists with maintaining log for bi-monthly outdates of all supplies related to perfusion.

Assists with maintaining log for the cleaning and disinfection process of the heater coolers and other machines noted above

Will learn to cross-train to assist other areas of the operating room under the direct management of the Clinical Director as well as other specialty care managers within the OR.

 

Experience Required:
Desired previous related medical experience or completion of related medical/science level courses; communications or hospitality industry are also desirable experiences. 

Education Requirements:
High School diploma required: certificate or degree preferred, currently enrolled student in allied health profession is also desired.

License/Certification Requirements:
Must obtain BLS within 6 months of employment from the American Heart Association.
