Overview:

Responsibilities:
Compares identifying information and counts, weights, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.

Determines method of shipment.

Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons. Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers. Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape; Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers; Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.

Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet requirements.

Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.

Operates fork truck, tier lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required.

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Meets commitments, works independently, accepts accountability, handles changes, sets personal standards, stays focused under pressure, meets attendance/punctuality requirements.

Should have knowledge of Epicor software; Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet software and Microsoft Word Processing software is required. 

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or GED; or 2 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Required: Minimum 2 years’ experience in Import/Export International Freight Logistics experience. Common Carrier Parcel Shipment methods. Forklift License Preferred: Experience with Epicor or related MRP systems.

None required for this role.
