Overview:
Under the direction of the Women’s Center Supervisor and Administrator and incoordination of the Women’s Center staff, the Mammography Technologist provides care to patients for the purpose of diagnosis and/or treatment of anatomic and physiologic disorders. Responsible for providing timely and effective services to the patients of the Women’s Center, assuring the professional and technical process is carried out. Ensures compliance with state regulations in mammography and maintains compliance with ACR standards.

Responsibilities:
Performs quality diagnostic procedures, general as well as surgical, portable, and tomography.

Assists radiologists and/or physicians in specific procedures and patient care, as well as in the administration of contrast media and other medications as required.

Provides and uses radiation protection devices and techniques in accordance with prescribed safety standards.

Identifies all images with patient I.D., side markers, and tech initials.

Correctly documents required information in the computerized information system (RIS).

Maintains radiographic quality by accurate positioning of patient and equipment and technique manipulation.

Completes and records exams accurately and in a timely fashion.

Applies knowledge of operation and use of diagnostic x-ray and mammography machines, processors, and other required equipment. Maintains optimum processing at all times; reports

malfunctions immediately.

Directs patient flow as to specific room and time, minimizing patient delays.

Ensures equipment is clean, orderly, and ready for use; meets all safety/health regulations and procedures.

Qualifications:
Associates of Applied Science- Radiologic Technology Program; bachelor's degree preferred.

3 years of prior Mammography experience.

Current unexpired Iowa Radiologic Technologist license. 

Current certification with the American Registry of RadiologicTechnologists (ARRT).

 BLS within 3 months of hire.

Organizational, verbal, interpersonal/communication skills, customer relations, analytical, comprehend written directions, follow verbal instructions.

Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
