Overview:
ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB’s Tampa, FL office is looking for an Entry Level Transportation Engineer to join our Transportation team. The selected candidate will work with a dynamic team of transportation planners and engineers on a variety of public, private, and institutional projects. Our team uses its skills and experience to improve our communities with a sustainable, context-driven and integrated project delivery approach. Our clients include FDOT, municipalities, and private partners who support the development of the places we live, work, recreate and learn.

 

Responsibilities

Work with a team of professionals in a variety of transportation planning and traffic engineering projects in the transportation-related areas to develop mobility solutions for all users

Conduct multi-modal transportation analyses and develop recommendations

Conduct safety data collection, assessments and develop mitigations

Perform field observations and site visits

Prepare transportation impact, corridor and intersection improvement traffic and safety studies

Planning-level/conceptual design of transportation engineering and planning projects

Conduct research and preparation of reports and tables, and presenting findings and results to clients in report documentation or power-point presentation 

Skills and Attributes

Working knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures in transportation engineering & planning required

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Comfortable working independently as well as on a team

Detail oriented, self-motivated, committed and ability to multi-task on assignments

Strong computer skills

Critical thinking and problem solving approach

Experience using industry-standard software design and analysis systems (e.g., CAD, GIS, Synchro, traffic simulation) preferred

Qualifications

BS in Civil Engineering 

0-1 years of professional transportation engineering and/or planning experience

EIT preferred

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required

Experience with AutoCAD, Synchro, ArcGIS and/or HCS preferred

Experience with PTV VISSIM and/or Adobe Creative Suites products a plus
