Overview:
Naval Health Clinic (NHC) Kaneohe Bay is seeking a Therapy Assistant to join our growing team

  

At NHC Kaneohe Bay, you will practice alongside civilian and military health care experts and experience unique professional opportunities. Our staff serves by caring for our military but are not subject to military requirements. We operate within safe staffing standards - giving you time to provide exceptional care. Care for patients is dictated by evidence, not what is only covered by insurance.  

 

The clinic is located on Marine Corps Base Kaneohe Bay, on the Mokapu Peninsula of windward O'ahu in the City & County of Honolulu.

 

In addition to salary, employees will receive an 8.9% Cost of Living Allowance (COLA); subject to change.

Responsibilities:
Evaluate, recommend and provide instructions on the use of assistance/orthotic devices.

Engage the patient in purposeful activity to enhance their ability to gain functional restoration in a reasonable timeframe.

Ensure treatment plan is designed to maximize results in promotion of healing and pain relief while ultimately improving the patient's functional independence.

Instruct and review all home program precautions and contraindications with patients and family members on use and application of physical modalities for home environment.

Track impact of the procedure's effects on patients, long-and short-term effects of different types of therapy, and appropriateness of a specific therapy, noting overall trends in efficacy, reporting problems to supervisor.

Assist in planning and coordinating in-service training for professional and non-professional personnel.

Evaluate and recommend equipment changes in bracing, use of crutches, canes, and wheelchair accessories.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Who May Apply: US Citizens

 

Experience: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience which includes: 1) assisting with implementing treatment plans; 2) instructing on proper methods of physical therapy treatment; and 3) providing status reports. 

OR

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such asOccupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Kinesiotherapy, Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, or Exercise Science.

OR

Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
