Description:
The Department of Surgery of Emory University at Grady Memorial Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia, is actively seeking a qualified candidate at the PGY6 level (graduate of a general surgery residency) for a burn fellowship position in an American Burn Association verified Adult and Pediatric Burn Unit at Grady Memorial Hospital.  This is a non-ACGME fellowship position overseen by Walter Ingram MD, Medical Director of the Burn Unit at GMH and Emory Associate Professor of Surgery. In addition to the Director, Juvonda Hodge MD, Associate Director, participates actively in clinical and academic work in the burn unit. Fellows have a rich clinical and research experience and are generously supported with funds for conference attendance.

Grady’s Burn Unit admits over 700 patients a year, including adult and pediatric patients, in a contemporary facility that provides comprehensive burn care. We are a multidisciplinary team of physicians, physician assistants, Emory and Morehouse general and plastic surgery residents, nurses, pharmacists, physical therapists and other ancillary staff. It is the only burn center in Georgia backed by a Level I Trauma Center (the Trauma Center admits about 4500 patients a year). See link for additional information about the Center:

Responsibilities include supervision of a multidisciplinary team along with integral involvement with ICU rounds and the operating room. There are extraordinary opportunities for clinical research based on patient volumes and acuity. The ideal candidate should have a background or strong interest in clinical research (candidates with MPH, MSc or similar degree are very welcome to apply).  Individual consideration may be given for an additional year of surgical critical care to qualify for ABS SCC board certification. Candidates should submit their curriculum vitae, personal statement, 3 letters of recommendation, and ABSITE and USMLE scores.
