Summary:
Provides clinical support as well as developmental support of employees in Cardiovascular Services. Measures and maintains good customer service, promotes teamwork and has good communication between management, staff and physicians. Responsible for MyMichigan Medical Center – Midland accreditation and merging all data from other accredited members into one application. Stays in close contact with other member vascular labs to keep current on technical changes and QI measures. Coordinates with Medical Director semi-annual QI meetings for the system.

Responsibilities:
(25%)*Serves as the lead vascular resource for technical, clinical and medical staff. Direct communication with the Cardiovascular Manager on a routine basis. Delegates daily work duties to maintain smooth workflow. Provides daily schedule and on call schedule for the manager and communicates to staff.

 

(25%)*Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic vascular examinations according to defined imaging protocols.

 

(25%)*Provides and reports Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activity to promote quality to ensure accreditation status. Participates in and has primary responsibility for all data collection and data submission associated with the IAC accreditation process.

 

(25%)*Assists in training of vascular lab staff.

 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conducts product reviews and ensures adequate stock levels are maintained.

 

Responsible for QA and QI of diagnostic studies performed by the vascular lab staff.

 

Participates in and has primary responsibility for all data collection and data submission associated with the IAC-Vascular accreditation process.

 

Educates as necessary.

 

Provides excellent customer service.

 

Cooperates with other personnel to achieve departmental and hospital goals; attends/participates in departmental and hospital meetings.

 

Performs other work related duties as assigned including assisting in other areas of the department as needed.

 

Demonstrates professionalism and courtesy at all times toward all employees, physicians, associated staff and MyMichigan Health customers and potential customers.

 

Leads the vascular staff by demonstrating professionalism, competence, and a sound work ethic.

 

Evaluates the vascular technologist exams when needed and provides constructive feedback in an effort to improve the results of the lab teaching techniques as needed.

Certifications and Licensures:
BLS - Basic Life Support

Required      Equivalent Experience - Within 1 month of hire or transfer

 

ULTRA C I - ARDMS-RVT OR CCI-RVS

Required      Equivalent Experience - Must be obtained within 1 year of graduation from sonography program or 90 days from date of hire or transfer, whichever comes first

Required Education:
Education: Associates Degree

 

Comments: A Bachelor’s degree in addition to Associate’s degree in clinical specialty and clinical certification (ARDMS, CCVT, CCI) is preferred.

Other Information:
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS:

Two years of work experience preferred as a registered or registry eligible Cardiac Sonographer.

 

Ultrasound skills, interpersonal skills, computer skills, communication (written and verbal) skills and teamwork skills are required.

 

Current compliance with Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements for specialty(ies) as appropriate and ARDMS or CCI re-credentialing yearly requirements to maintain active registrant status.

 

Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner in person and by phone.

 

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.

 

Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.

 

Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.

 

Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).

 

Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time.

 

May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.

 

Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material.

 

Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.

 

Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.

 

Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling.

 

May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.

 

Physical Demand Level:Light.Must be able to occasionally (0?33% of the workday) lift or carry 11?20 lbs., frequently (34?66% of the workday) 10 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls.
