Responsibilities:
Serves as account manager and writer for designated business units within USA Health for planning, creation, and execution of marketing and communication materials; develops and promotes newsworthy activities, and responds to news media inquiries within assigned units; as appropriate, publicizes assigned unit activities in corresponding publications; provides counsel and content for USA Health and university media; coordinates with development officers for assigned areas to publicize institutional philanthropic efforts and to assist with communication materials associated with institutional philanthropic efforts; serves as official USA Health spokesperson, when appropriate; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required; related duties as required.
Must possess strong writing and communication skills, the ability to work well with others in an onsite office setting, the ability to meet weekly deadlines with demonstrated success in seeing projects through from start to completion. Should provide at least three writing samples of published work to include news releases, feature stories or other forms of written communication that demonstrate an ability to synthesize then summarize larger pieces of information.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations or related field from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and two years of professional experience in marketing, public relations, communications or related experience
