Job Description

The successful applicant will provide support to the biostatistics team, which is part of the larger data science department in Santen.  The intern could research simulation studies for better understanding of missing data impact in clinical trials in addition to contribute standardization of statistical analysis providing sample codes.  The intern could also contribute to methodology of estimands especially intercurrent event strategies. The intern could also be assigned to additional data analysis activities using clinical trial data. Through this project the intern could gain:

A general knowledge of clinical trials and biostatistics

Exposure to data analysis with missing data under assumptions of MCAR, MAR, and MNAR

Understanding of challenges in designing with missing data in clinical trials following estimand framework based on ICH E9 (R1)

Experience conducting simulation studies as part of the process to develop a clinical trial design

Potential presentation at statistical conference and/or publication

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY DELIVERABLES:

Experience using SAS/R either through job-related or coursework assignments

Experience of basic data manipulation

Knowledge of applied statistical analysis and basic concept of missing data

Proficiency with standard office technology and software, e.g. MS Office Suite, Outlook, etc.

Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving and time-management skills; and

Attention to detail; ability to work well independently and as part of a team.

Skills the intern will gain: The intern will gain experience in comprehensive research for better understanding of the estimand defined in ICH E9 (R1) and in simulation studies for missing data in the pharmaceutical industry.
