Westborough Massachusetts, United States Massachusetts Technology Collaborative Full time
In 2023, the Northeast Microelectronics Coalition (NEMC) Hub was selected as 1 of 8 Department of Defense (DoD) Microelectronics Commons Regional Hubs. This selection, and accompanying award, was the culmination of 2+ years of convening and building the coalition with over 90+ industry, academic, and government partners. Led by MassTech, the NEMC Hub is comprised of passionate individuals committed to expanding the nation’s global leadership in microelectronics and building a robust lab-to-fab development ecosystem. As announced in March 2024, the NEMC Hub has submitted 15 proposals to the federal government’s Microelectronics Commons Call for Projects, pulling together collaborative projects that span the Hub’s 170 member organizations from across the Northeast. Highlighting the Hub’s strength in diverse sectors, its submissions covered all six of the critical technology execution areas identified by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) including 5G/6G technology, AI Hardware, Commercial Leap Ahead Technologies, Electromagnetic Warfare, Secure Edge/IoT Computing, and Quantum Technologies.

Position Overview:

In preparation for anticipated project awards, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Manager to oversee multiple microelectronic development projects concurrently. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional project management and communication skills, and a background in (or exposure to) some aspect(s) of microelectronics including telecommunications, AI computing, semiconductors, photonics, and IoT. Experience in project reporting to federal government agencies (e.g. DARPA, U.S. DoD, NSF, etc) is a plus. As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful oversight and reporting of multi-organization collaborative projects from inception to completion, while interfacing across organizations with engineers, administrative staff, and other stakeholders to drive alignment and achieve project goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Execution

·         In collaboration with NEMC Hub staff and members, develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, and resource allocation, for a variety of microelectronics development projects.

·         Manage the oversight and reporting of projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, payment milestones, technical deliverables and demonstrations, and quality standards.

·         Proactively identify and mitigate risks and issues that may impact project delivery.

Stakeholder Management

·         Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including engineering teams, administrators (e.g. legal and finance), and senior management.

·         Facilitate communication and collaboration between cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on project objectives and priorities.

·         Synthesize and present project requirements or outcomes to internal and external audiences such as NEMC Hub Members or sponsor agencies.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting

·         Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track project progress and performance.

·         Generate regular status reports and updates for stakeholders, highlighting achievements, challenges, and action plans.

·         Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies within projects, leveraging data-driven insights and industry best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, management, or similar area of study.

• PMP or equivalent project management certification is preferred.

• 3-5 years of demonstrated project management experience.

• Demonstrated success in managing multiple complex projects simultaneously, ideally within the microelectronics industry.

• Strong project management skills, including experience with project planning, scheduling, risk management, and resource allocation.

• Proficiency in project management tools and software, such as Microsoft Project or Jira.

• Proficiency in communication and data management tools such as Salesforce or Airtable is a plus.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

• Able to relate well to a broad base of stakeholders across industry, academia, and government in an open constructive manner that inspires collaboration and engenders mutual trust.

• A positive, enthusiastic, can-do attitude.
