Irving Texas, United States 7-Eleven, Inc. Full time
Overview:
▶ Who we are

Imagine working in a place where continuous improvement and innovation is celebrated and rewarded; where fast-paced, high-impact teams come together to positively drive results for one of the largest & most iconic brands in the world.

As the only rapidly growing retailer, you may know us as your friendly neighborhood store. You probably know our familiar name, have seen our pervasive logo, and have tried our highly sought-after products, such as Slurpee® and Big Bite®.  “Brain Freeze” is a 7-Eleven registered trademark for our 53-year old Slurpee® and with over 77,000 stores globally (more than any other retailer or food service provider), we sell over 14 million a month.

But there’s a lot more to our story and much more left to be written.  We are transforming our business, ensuring we are customer obsessed and digitally enabled to seamlessly link our brick and mortar stores with digital products and services.

At 7-Eleven the entrepreneurial spirit is in our DNA and has been ever since our inception 90+ years ago. It’s what drove us to invent the convenience industry in 1927 by envisioning how a simple ice dock could provide household staples such as milk and eggs to better serve the needs of our customers.

Today we are redefining convenience and the customer experience in big ways...we are fundamentally changing our culture and we want talented, innovative, customer obsessed, and entrepreneurial people like you to come make history with us.

▶ How we lead

At 7-Eleven we are guided by our Leadership Principles.

Be Customer Obsessed

Be Courageous with Your Point of View

Challenge the Status Quo

Act Like an Entrepreneur

Have an “It Can Be Done” Attitude

Do the Right Thing

Be Accountable

Each principle has a defined set of behaviors which help guide the 7-Eleven team to Serve Customers and Support Stores.

▶ About This Opportunity

Responsibilities:
Job Summary:

You will not see any vendor names in the responsibilities listed below.  We are more interested in aptitude and attitude, than specific OS experience.  Let us know your history, but of more interest is your grasp of technical concepts, not specific user interfaces.  We want team members who will take ownership of issues and drive them to resolution, not simply perform tasks as assigned.  You will act as a subject matter expert (SME) on behalf of our customers (other business units within 7-Eleven), to ensure their projects and deployments succeed with appropriate security posture, in a timely manner.  You must have a passion for learning new technologies, not simply working with what you already know.  You will be provided with the tools to produce your own career success, but you must seize them and create that success.  You will be challenged in a fast-paced environment, but success in handling these challenges will not go unnoticed or unrewarded.

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for all aspects of Network Security within 7-Eleven. You will be a SME in some domains (not all), but are expected to use advanced professional knowledge of security concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways, in all of the following domains.  As a senior engineer, you are expected to do these things without technical direction and with only occasional guidance:Firewalls and network filters, in both Enterprise, Stores, and cloud networks

Intrusion Prevention policies

Site-to-site and remote-access VPN connectivity

Network Access Control

Authentication, Authorization and Accounting (to include multi-factor authentication)

Web access proxy servers and URL filtering

PKI and certificate issuance and management

DNS Security

Threat research, vulnerability remediation, and creation of compensating controls

Network Security policy creation, exception documentation and approval

Management of multi-factor authentication tokens

Create your professional development and training plan for approval by manager.

Prioritize taskings and projects assigned based on importance to accomplishment of business objectives. Determine methods and procedures on new assignments.  Assist junior teammates with maintaining proper prioritization.

Solve complex issues where analysis of situations and data require in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Provide escalation support and technical guidance to teammates.

Lead projects assigned to you, in effort to advance partnership opportunities between Network Security team and other business areas. Determine appropriate methods and procedures on new assignments and occasionally assist with coordinating activities of junior teammates.

Work with team lead/manager to define network security requirements for current and future state end-to-end architectures and platforms to advance security controls and the security posture of the business.

Collaborate with development and engineering teams to prioritize security risks, provide mitigation or remediation recommendations, and implement compensating controls.

Perform network security architecture and third-party risk management reviews.

Perform or lead teammates in performing network security platform testing, vulnerability remediation, and operating system hardening to reduce attack surface.

Perform or lead teammates in performing proof-of-concept testing for network security solutions under consideration for purchase and implementation.

Provide team lead/manager with updates and metrics on effectiveness of network security controls.

Develop and maintain network security policies, standards, processes and workflows

Assist team lead/manager with identifying network security products and technologies that can enhance 7-Eleven’s mission by providing appropriate protection for all data on the network, or sent or received to/from various public or private clouds, or the Internet at large.

Exemplify 7-Eleven Leadership Principles for Network Security team
