Overview:
The Sr. Demand Analyst is responsible for all forecasting activities at the customer and product category levels. The Sr. Demand Analyst creates and maintains forecast models for their customers, incorporating business intelligence and forecasting insights gathered from Sales, Marketing, Finance, retailer replenishment analysts, and other sources. This position provides support to the Demand Planning Manager to accomplish the company’s goals for forecast metric performance (i.e. Forecast Accuracy, Forecast Bias, etc.) in the most economical method possible through the entire supply chain.  Will periodically interact with Executive business leaders and be able to clearly and concisely articulate forecasts, risks and uncertainties to enable strategic company decision-making.  Will take the initiative to pull together the necessary functions to further improve forecasts, processes, and metric performance. 

Responsibilities:
Responsible for Consensus Demand Plan development and recommendations based on sound data analysis, resulting in recommended purchase quantities and timing to support future sales and inventory target levels. All forecasts are managed for multiple warehouses and customers.

Review and analyze trends in historical shipments & POS, and utilize National Promo calendars and planned media, to develop Demand Analyst point of view for assigned items.

Monitor statistical forecasts using advanced knowledge of statistical models and segmentation, including ability to recognize where an alternate statistical model may lead to better results.

Participate in cross-functional teams for specific customers to increase forecast accuracy and fill rate. Challenge team processes for account forecast development to assist team in trying new ways to improve outcomes.

Attend meetings as needed to gather information on forecasting and provide expertise and guidance to other associates within and outside of BISSELL. Meetings may include product, customer, product development, advertising planning, promotional, etc.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop demand forecasts specific to New Product launches, participating in ramp plan discussions, launch strategy and timing and to identify a “like-item” to model.

Analyze overall forecast accuracy and bias using available computer software (ERP, Advanced Planning System, Excel, etc.) and other tools as needed to determine if Demand Analyst point of view should be adjusted. Also responsible for analyzing forecast accuracy of the various workstream inputs to adjust weighting of inputs, as needed, to improve consensus forecast results.

Lead monthly Consensus Demand Reviews with Key Sales Managers and Category Marketing, reviewing prior month results/accuracy, demand changes and key assumptions, new launches, etc.

Participate in monthly Global Demand Review, communicating key changes & assumptions in the hand off to the Supply Team.

Participate in monthly Pre-S&OP meetings, presenting category leaders with key assumptions driving change in future demand and identifying gaps to Annual Plan or Annual Update.

Analyze key account retail inventory, where available, to incorporate the impact of retail shortages or excess inventory vs. goal, in short-term forecasts.

Participate in the Annual Plan process and communicate significant forecast changes that should be considered for Financial Updates, as needed.

Comprehensive product and derivative knowledge, plus knowledge of inventory levels of assigned products through their entire product life cycle (launch, promotional, maintenance, returns, through to end-of-life close outs) and by location.

Jointly manage the relationship with Supply team counterparts, including knowledge of supplier and supplier locations as it pertains to lead-times and recognition of the key demand decisions that should be shared.

Assist with internal presentations as requested.

May be required to perform other duties as assigned.

Required Experience / Education: 

Degree minimum: Bachelor’s degree

Specific concentration: Accounting, Statistics, Mathematics, Supply Chain or Logistics

Experience level: 5+ years in Supply Chain roles with 2+ years in disciplines such as Demand Planning, Business Forecasting, Sales Operations, Procurement, or Logistics

Specialized Training/ Education Preferred: 

Supply Chain Certification: IBF (CPF, ACPF), APICS (CSCP,CPIM)

3+ years of experience with Retail Forecasting or Demand Planning

Advanced knowledge of statistical models

Skills Required:

 

This position requires the ability to manage the flow of data, perform analysis, generate summary reports, and communicate by voice or data while being connected in the office, at home, or while traveling by laptop or mobile device regularly without regard to time zone or day of the week.
