Responsibilities:
Performs registration in computerized systems. Performs pre-registration, enters date of service upon patient arrival andarrives patient in EMR. Obtains current demographic and insurance information at each patient encounter, verifiesinformation is correctly entered into all systems. Collects co-payments. Sends missed appointment letter to patients.Knowledge of insurance carriers. Secures referrals to PCP or specialist if needed.Schedules patient appointments in electronic scheduling system. Schedules diagnostic tests and consults. Securesprecerts/authorizations for diagnostic tests and admissions/transfers. Answers in-coming telephone calls, prioritizes androutes appropriately. Takes complete telephone messages, prioritizes and routes appropriately. Provides callers withexceptional customer service with telephone interactions.Coordinates incoming and outgoing correspondence. Files appropriately in patient chart. Assists with chart preparation.Measures vital signs including pain score and height/weight, updates medical record. Prepares patients for exams andmanages flow through clinic area. Cleans rooms and equipment between patients. Assists nursing staff. Performsphlebotomy. Processes all laboratory specimens (including special tests and pathology specimens).Verifies that all laboratory reports are received and given to the physician for review. Verifies organizational compliancewith all regulating agencies. Documents appropriately on electronic medical record and in the patient chart. Obtainssignatures on Advance Beneficiary Notices per Medicare requirements. Maintains and reconciles laboratory logs.Prepares instruments for sterilization. Assists administrative staff. Orders supplies and stocks exam rooms, treatmentrooms, lab and nourishment area. Verifies supplies are properly rotated for use prior to expiration dates. Assistsdepartment with QC/PI-data collection, evaluation and recommendations for improvement.

Qualifications:

One year Nursing Assistant, PCA or MA

High School Diploma or GED;

Certified Medical Assistant Desired: Certification or National Registry as a Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant.
