Evaluate, supervise and monitor clients during exercise rehabilitation. Evaluate profiles /intakes and recommends program through Cardiac Rehabilitation services. Develop exercise prescriptions in consultation with Supervising Provider and render exercise programs upon providers referral for apparently healthy and diseased populations. Questions, concerns, and medical decisions regarding treatment must be discussed with HVC nurse/physician clinician, Manager and/or medical advisor. Follow up, document and maintain participants needs. This job may require practice outside the hospital campus, such as Health Fairs etc. and own transportation may be utilized

Responsibilities:
1. Responsibilities may include: Initial evaluation and reassessments of clients, care plan development and revisions for clients in cardiac rehabilitation setting. Provide instruction and demonstrate proper exercises as well as Supervision of clients before, during and after exercise sessions. Conducts patient monitoring, escalating concerns to RN/ provider. Educates participants regarding all aspects of exercise (including home exercise.) Documents initial and daily assessment data into patients record and procedure manual. Performs appropriate documentation for individual programs.

2. Provides educational programs for participants in area of expertise. Participates in research, in-service education classes, student/intern education and other activities, as directed.

3. Maintains professional knowledge base by professional organization membership and regular attendance at in-service programs, workshops, symposia and university classes

Qualifications:
EDUCATION

Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science/Exercise Physiology .
Masters preferred

EXPERIENCE

Prior experience as an exercise specialist required, preferably in a cardiac rehabilitation or pulmonary rehabilitation program

LICENSURE

BLS needed, certification by ACSM or AACVPR will be encouraged

SPECIAL SKILLS

Excellent interpersonal skills, public speaking skills and the ability to practice independently. Computer skills
including Epic and Outlook

PHYSICAL DEMAND

Moderate physical effort with some bending, stooping, stretching and lifting, standing and walking most of the day.

Additional Information:
Degree as Exercise specialist/physiologist or sports medicine. BLS necessary. Previous experience in Cardiac /Pulmonary rehabilitation or physical therapy preferred. Excellent verbal or written communication skills; ability to work as part of multidisciplinary team to provide patient focused care. Strong computer skills. Ability to multitask and work in fast paced environment. Customer service skills are critical.
