Litigation Paralegal

Our New York City office has the opportunity for an experienced Paralegal to join the firm's expanding practice. On a day to day basis, this position researches law, investigates facts, and prepares documents to assist attorneys. Independently researches and analyzes law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes to prepare legal documents, such as briefs, pleadings, appeals for review, approval, and use by attorney.
This position will work a hybrid schedule.
Essential Functions:
Researches law, investigates facts, and independently prepares documents to assist attorneys with matters.
Summarizes complex legal documents
Organizes and indexes complex case files
Determines and calendars deadlines
Performs wide variety of legal research and data compilation, with little or no supervision
Files pleadings with court clerk
Prepares reports, correspondence, declarations, complaints, and damages analyses.
Drafts a wide variety of legal documents
Prepares affidavits or documents and maintains document file
Prepares for mediations and trials
Assists Attorneys at trial
Assists Attorney in preparation for depositions
Communicates with witnesses and experts
Scheduling
Enters billing and expense data into Firm system in a timely manner
Coordinates major projects or cases, some of which may involve the work of multiple paralegals
Requirements:
Experience with site checking and pulling cases, e-filing, and discovery required.
New York notary required.
Paralegal certification / degree from accredited college or university
6+ years of paralegal experience, preferably working in a labor/employment litigation practice
Proficient in all Microsoft applications, including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook; Lexis-Nexis and WestLaw, Live Note, Concordance, Case Map, Docketing, Document Management System, expense and billing systems
Benefits:
In accordance with New York City’s Wage Transparency Law, the expected salary range for this New York City position is between $85,400 and $96,200. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
