Overview:
The Buyer procures components, materials, and services based on MRP/ERP directives known priorities, usage history and/or sales forecasts.

Responsibilities:
Shall include but not be limited to the following:

Place purchase orders with suppliers for procurement of production materials as required.

Monitor status of open and partial purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery of all components, raw materials and services.  Includes timely resolution, communication and mitigation of future potential problems.

Expedite or de-expedite orders as required based on schedule/inventory changes.

Determine and establish optimal inventory levels, safety stocks based on forecast, demand variation and material lead times.

Coordinate material flows throughout product/BOM changes, obsolescence, and the introduction of new suppliers and/or materials due to new product development.

Manage inventory through inter-company warehouses and distribution center locations.

Manage and resolve issues regarding PO to invoice discrepancies, returns and quality problems with suppliers.

Provide back-up support for supply chain functions including shipping, receiving, material handling and other duties as assigned.

Collaborate with internal departs and provide a high level of support including recommending solutions, resources and alternative supply options.

Performs general office duties as required including filing.

Must be able to work 40 hours per week at a minimum. 

Qualifications:
Education requirement or equivalent experience:

Minimum high school education or equivalent.  BS/BA in Supply Chain, Business preferred.

Minimum of 5 year’s experience in a buyer/planner/material scheduler role.

Knowledge of forecasting, MRP, transportation, and inventory management.

Proficient with Office, Excel organization, communication and follow-up skills.

Previous experience with Microsoft AX desired.

Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Ability to determine follow-up communication as needed

Ability to influence others and manage conflict in a OEM manufacturing environment.

Excellent interpersonal skills, proficiency in written and verbal communication, and good spelling and grammar.

High degree of attention to detail; demonstrates accuracy and self-directed.
