Job Description

Examples of essential duties of this position include but are not limited to: 

Under the direction and supervision of senior epidemiological staff, the Epidemiologist I carries out epidemiologic and/or evaluation protocols to determine patterns of health, illness, or program efficacy.

Assists with the design and implementation of survey instruments and study protocols for data collection and analysis. 

Conducts literature reviews and succinctly summarizes key findings.

Provides quality control of data by assisting with coding, overseeing data entry, cleaning data, and preparing documentation as well as procuring data from secondary sources.

Creates and/or manipulates databases of original/secondary data and conducts analyses using statistical software packages under the direction of senior staff.

Prepares data for review in tables, reports, and graphics as directed by senior staff.

Participates in stakeholder and community engagement for data interpretation.

Assists with preparing study findings for dissemination and publication and communicates epidemiologic information to multiple audiences (e.g. public communities, public health).

May assist with preparing project/grant proposals.

Assists with the preparation of findings for presentation at community and scientific meetings and conferences as needed.

Utilizes geographic information systems and spatial analysis tools to evaluate and present data.

The 2802 Epidemiologist I also performs other related duties as assigned.
