OVERVIEW ::
This position is responsible for preforming various tasks in the hatchery while following all Company Safety and Animal Welfare Policies. Primary responsibility is working with Embrex Lead to oversee the embrex transfer process of the hatchery. 

 

The hours for this position are Tuesday/Wednesday 1:00am to 1:00pm and Friday/Saturday 2:00 am to 2:00 pm.  

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS ::
Use syringes and needles correctly to mix vaccines.

Open, set-up, close, operate Embrex machine.

Make sure that the crew is transferring eggs correctly. 

Ensure that the correct eggs are transferred to the correct locations for processing.

Push full baskets of eggs into Hatcher rooms by following outlined procedures.

Open, set-up, close, and clean up vacuum system in the separator room.

Be able to diagnose and fix minor mechanical breakdown on the Embrex machine.

Assist and motivate Embrex crew to run safely and efficiently.

All other duties as assigned by supervisor. 

REQUIREMENTS ::
Minimum 18 years of age.

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Must have familiarity with assigned equipment/material and willingness to obtain.

Must become FIT tested for respirator.

Must have the ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate with other in a manner conducive to proficient performance and high morale.

Sound work ethic, honesty, and problem solving.

Previous live poultry experience preferred.

Basic math functions and skills.

Ability to understand and follow oral/written instructions.

Must be highly self-motivated and able to follow established procedures and meet standard while working unsupervised.

Wear assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Ability to read/interpret label on hatchery chemicals, supplies, and vaccines.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ::

Exposure consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.

Exposure to temperatures below 0 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.

May handle product below 0 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.

May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db.

Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.

Must handle the weight of 8 to 10 lbs repetitively, occasionally lifting, pushing, or pulling 40 to 70 lbs.

Exposure to chemicals used in the poultry processing facility.

Ability to work in a stationary position, on feet for the entire shift.

Ability to work with heavy machinery for the duration of the shift.

Ability to climb steps and to access and egress through the production environment.
