The Floor Technician is responsible for using equipment and chemicals to clean and maintain hard floor and/or carpeted surface areas. The individual in this position must be at least 21 years of age and have a minimum of 2 years of floor cleaning experience, and 4-6 months of housekeeping experience. The Floor technician must have knowledge of the chemicals and equipment used to complete the duties of the position.
Common Job Duties include but are not limited to:
- Sweeps/dusts mops/wet mops non-carpeted areas.
- Strips/Scrubs/Waxes/Buffs resilient tile floors.
- Brighten or Seal Grout.
- Upholstery cleaning of chairs.
- Extraction of carpeted areas.
- Bonnets, uses scrubber or side by side and bonnets.
- Buffers, uses propane or electric.
- Takes buffers and scrubber machines, tools, and supplies to work site.
- Places fans in strategic room locations as needed and/or wet floor signs.
- Inspects completed floor care to ensure conformance to standards. This includes returning furniture and other items to their original location.
- Uses of heavy cleaning equipment, such as, floor scrubbers, backpack vacuums and buffers.
- Keeps the tools and equipment properly stored, cleaned, and maintained.
- Follows all company safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions; complete safety training and certifications. Physical Activities may include:
- Lift 50-75 lbs. (floor equipment, pails of chemicals, etc.)
- Stoop, bend, pivot, push, pull, kneeling, crouching, reach or stretch to access difficult to reach areas. Climbing stairs.
- Handle equipment, tools, other material and items required to perform floor duties.
- Maneuver equipment and tools. Work Environment
- Work is normally performed in a typical casino work environment.
- Noise level is moderate to high.
- Moderate to high exposure to cigarette smoke.
