About Us
Shields Healthcare Services is a Houston-based home health agency that helps patients receive quality care where they are most comfortable: at home. We are growing our Personal Attendant Services (PAS) program and are looking for an experienced coordinator to build it and lead it.
About the Role
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who has built or run a PAS department before. You will set up the processes, manage authorizations, coordinate attendants and clients, and keep the program compliant and growing. You'll work closely with our Administrator and have real input into how the department is shaped.
What You'll Do
- Build and run the PAS department: intake, client onboarding, scheduling, and day-to-day operations
- Obtain, track, and renew service authorizations with Texas Medicaid MCOs (such as Wellpoint/Amerigroup, Molina, Superior, and UnitedHealthcare Community Plan) and HHSC programs
- Monitor authorized units and hours so services are never delivered without a valid authorization
- Recruit, orient, schedule, and supervise personal attendants, and cover call-offs quickly
- Oversee EVV (Electronic Visit Verification) compliance, visit maintenance, and timesheet accuracy
- Coordinate with case managers, service coordinators, clients, and families on service plans and changes
- Maintain accurate client and attendant records that meet HHSC and MCO audit requirements
- Work with billing to resolve denials, authorization gaps, and EVV mismatches
- Track department metrics and report on census, staffing, and authorization status What We're Looking For
- 2+ years of experience in a PAS, PHC, or CDS program, with a proven track record of building or running a PAS department
- Strong experience with authorizations in Texas Medicaid home and community-based services
- Working knowledge of EVV systems (HHAeXchange or similar) and HHSC/MCO requirements
- Excellent time management and organization, with the ability to juggle many clients, attendants, and deadlines
- Clear, professional communication with clients, families, staff, and payers
- Comfort with EMR/scheduling software and Microsoft Office
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus. Why Join Shields Healthcare Services
