About the Role
We are seeking an energetic, reliable Seasonal Booth Manager / Shift Lead to help oversee our two retail huts—*Lichterwald
* and *Lichtermeer*—at the annual Carmel Christkindlmarkt. As a Shift Lead, you will serve as the primary operational anchor and point of contact during shifts. Working alongside the business owners and our booth associates, you will ensure fast register flow, keep displays fully stocked, manage break rotations, and deliver an exceptional holiday experience for market visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Shift Operations: Lead daily opening or closing procedures, including register startup/cash countdowns, turning on booth electrics/heaters, and securing huts at night.
- Front-of-House Sales & Service: Station at the primary register during peak hours to run transactions, assist customers, and maintain a fast, welcoming checkout experience.
- Inventory & Restocking: Monitor inventory levels across both booths; coordinate with team members to pull stock from the back holding area before peak rushes hit.
- Break Management: Execute the daily break schedule so booth associates receive timely rests without disrupting register coverage or customer service.
- Team Point Person: Act as the go-to contact on shift for basic associate questions, register troubleshooting, and assisting with call-outs and shift swaps. Schedules & Hours
- Must be available to work Wednesday through Sunday during the market season (including peak weekend hours).
- Shifts range from weekday afternoons/evenings to full weekend operating hours. Qualifications
- Prior experience in retail sales, customer service, or team leading/supervising.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, outdoor holiday market environment (huts are covered and equipped with radiant heaters).
- Strong communication skills, basic math skills, and familiarity with touchscreen point-of-sale (POS) systems.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25–30 lbs during restocks.
- Reliable transportation to downtown Carmel, IN. Pay & Compensation Notes
- Shift Lead Rate: $18.00/hr + shared tips for all shifts scheduled in the Shift Lead role.
- *Note: Any secondary shift leads scheduled for standard associate coverage shifts are paid at our regular Associate rate of $16.00/hr + tips.
