Chemers Gallery is looking for a friendly, upbeat, and organized individual to join our gallery and custom framing team.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with people, has an eye for color and design, and can confidently juggle a variety of tasks throughout the day. You’re comfortable staying focused and productive when things are busy, but can also take initiative and find ways to stay useful during slower times.
You’re a self-starter, detail-oriented, flexible, creative, and a clear communicator. Most importantly, you understand that our clients come first and take pride in providing a warm, knowledgeable experience.
This is not an entry-level position. The right candidate will be expected to learn quickly, work independently, and become an important part of the gallery’s day-to-day operations while assisting the owner with a wide range of responsibilities. There is opportunity for advancement.
What We’re Looking For
- Excellent memory, organizational skills, and attention to detail
- Friendly and confident communication with clients
- Ability to answer questions about art and custom framing, or learn quickly
- Self-starter who can multitask and work with minimal supervision
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent writing and proofreading skills
- Computer literate; experience with both Mac and PC is a plus
- Comfortable navigating the internet and conducting online research
- Experience with photography, Photoshop, and Canva
- Experience with email marketing platforms such as Constant Contact is a plus
- Administrative or office assistance experience highly preferred
- Color, design, and visual presentation skills are a plus Job Duties
- Assist the owner with organization, scheduling, and client support
- Provide general office support, including answering phones, making calls, greeting clients, filing, scheduling appointments, and ordering office supplies
- Research products, artists, artwork, and other information online
- Help manage daily social media and gallery communications
- Provide excellent service and communication with clients and artists
- Maintain customer records and artwork inventory using dedicated gallery software
- Format and prepare images in Photoshop for the gallery website, social media, and email newsletters
- Assist with email marketing and other digital communications
- Help with exhibition preparation and gallery presentation
- Assist with events and special projects
- Keep the gallery organized, clean, and presentable
- Assist with day-to-day gallery operations as needed Physical Requirements This position involves being on your feet throughout the day and assisting with the physical aspects of running a gallery. Duties may include climbing stairs, moving artwork, and rolling and unrolling artwork on the floor. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. Schedule & Compensation This is a full-time position, 5 days a week. Current hours are:
- Monday–Friday: 9:45 AM–5:00 PM
- Saturday: 11:00 AM–4:00 PM
- Open Sundays during December
- Occasional evening events throughout the year Pay is based on experience. Local candidates only.
