Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and dependable Secondary Regional Detox Specialist (RDS) to support detox operations and residential programming within our substance abuse treatment facility. This position serves as a support role to the primary RDS while also assisting with Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) responsibilities throughout the shift. The ideal candidate will have previous RDS experience, knowledge of substance abuse treatment, strong documentation skills, and the ability to provide quality client care in a fast-paced treatment environment. Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesRegional Detox Specialist Support
- Assist the primary RDS with detox monitoring and client care.
- Complete RDS charting, documentation, and required client checks.
- Monitor and document client vital signs as directed.
- Observe and document client self-administration of medications according to facility policies.
- Monitor clients for withdrawal symptoms and changes in physical or mental status.
- Communicate concerns and significant observations to the primary RDS, nursing staff, and medical providers as appropriate.
- Provide RDS coverage during breaks, lunches, meetings, or other temporary absences. Behavioral Health Technician Duties
- Conduct routine client rounds and wellness checks.
- Supervise client activities and maintain a safe therapeutic environment.
- Assist with client transportation as assigned.
- Support clients with daily living activities and program expectations.
- Facilitate appropriate client engagement and accountability within the treatment environment.
- Assist with admissions, discharges, and room checks as needed.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation of client interactions and observations. Client Safety & Monitoring
- Maintain awareness of client behavior and identify potential safety concerns.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and crisis situations.
- Follow all facility policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements.
- Ensure a safe, structured, and recovery-focused environment for clients. Qualifications
- Previous Regional Detox Specialist (RDS) experience preferred.
- Experience working in substance abuse treatment, behavioral health, detoxification, or residential treatment required.
- Knowledge of withdrawal symptoms, detox monitoring, and medication observation procedures.
- Ability to obtain and document vital signs accurately.
- Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and work independently.
- Valid driver's license preferred. Preferred Skills
- Experience working with individuals in early recovery.
- Knowledge of ASAM levels of care and substance use disorders.
- Strong crisis intervention and de-escalation skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and clinical documentation. Schedule
- 12-hour shifts: 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM
