- handcrafted from scratch daily in each location. Born and built in Chicago, FARE is growing, and we’re looking for leaders who care deeply about food, people, and doing things the right way. The Role The Shift Lead runs the store during assigned shifts
- supporting the team in real time, ensuring strong service execution, consistent food quality, and a guest experience that reflects FARE standards. You’ll be hands-on, calm under pressure, and ready to lead the floor. Position Status: Full-time, non-exempt (hourly) position. This role is eligible for overtime in accordance with applicable wage and hour laws. What You’ll Do Guest Experience & Hospitality
- Deliver warm, attentive hospitality and create welcoming guest experiences
- Resolve guest concerns in the moment and escalate as needed to ensure thoughtful follow-up
- Model and uphold FARE service standards consistently
- Support service flow and pace during peak periods Shift & Store Operations
- Lead shift execution to ensure smooth operations and efficiency
- Complete and oversee food safety checklists, temperature logs, and required documentation
- Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and safety protocols
- Oversee in-store, digital, and catering order fulfillment for accuracy and timeliness
- Enter/manage external orders in the POS as needed Team Leadership & Support
- Coach and train team members in real time to improve performance and consistency
- Provide hands-on support across FOH and other stations as needed
- Assist with scheduling, shift coverage, and call-off support
- Lead confidently in the absence of the General Manager What We’re Looking For
- 1+ year of supervisory experience or equivalent leadership experience
- Restaurant experience (fast casual preferred; full service welcome)
- Strong communication, organization, and on-shift decision-making skills
- Passion for hospitality, real food, and team development
- Comfort with knife skills and learning store equipment (Unox oven, Robot Coupe, induction burners, etc.)
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and quality standards Certifications (Required)
- Allergen Awareness Certification
- Certified Food Service Manager
- City of Chicago If you don’t currently have these, you may still apply if you’re able to obtain them within a reasonable timeframe after hire (as required by role needs and local regulations). Physical Requirements
- Stand/walk up to 10 hours/day
- Lift/carry up to 50 lbs
- Work in warm/cool environments with moderate to high noise levels
- Tolerate exposure to common food allergens Compensation
- Base Rate of $17-18/hour + tips. Average total compensation with tips is $21-26/hour. Benefits
