Seattle, Washington, United States MarxFoods.com Full-time $80,000 - $100,000 Contract
About Marx Companies Marx Companies is a family-owned specialty food company that has been sourcing and selling premium meats, seafood, and other specialty products for decades. We work with producers around the world to bring unique, high-quality products to the U.
S. market. Our businesses include Marx Imports, serving distributors and wholesale partners; Marx Foodservice, serving restaurants and chefs; and MarxFoods.com, selling directly to consumers nationwide. Our marketing is largely created in-house and spans B2B and consumer audiences, multiple Marx Companies brands, and the international producers we represent. This is an in-person position based in our Seattle office and is not remote or hybrid. The Role We’re looking for an experienced Senior Visual Designer to join our five-person marketing team. You’ll bring excellent visual instincts and strong technical skills, with the ability to take a project from a rough idea through polished final execution. First and foremost, we're looking for a great designer. Strong typography, layout, composition, branding, and visual communication skills are essential. We're also looking for someone who can do more than execute a finished brief. You should be comfortable taking a marketing objective or loosely defined request and developing it into a thoughtful visual solution—bringing your own ideas and a strong design point of view to the process. The work is varied and spans product launches, brand development, sales materials, digital campaigns, direct mail, web and email creative, trade shows, packaging, signage, supplier initiatives, and more.

What You'll Do
• Develop creative concepts and translate marketing objectives into polished visual solutions.
• Design across print and digital, including sales materials, promotional flyers, email campaigns, digital advertising, direct mail, web assets, presentations, trade show materials, signage, packaging, and labels.
• Collaborate with marketing, sales, leadership, and outside partners while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
• Prepare production-ready artwork and maintain a high standard of quality and consistency. Photography is an important secondary skill for this role. We have a lot of fun behind the camera and in the kitchen, and we're looking for someone who has technical proficiency with a camera and a good eye for capturing delicious imagery. About once a month, we spend a day in our test kitchen with a chef creating original food and product photography—and it's always a fun (and delicious) day. You'll help photograph these sessions, then edit and retouch imagery for use across our marketing. You'll also help source the best photography for marketing projects and maintain and improve our existing library of product photography, artwork, brand files, and other creative assets so they're organized and easy for the team to find and use. How We Work With AI We believe success moving forward will come from finding the right balance between human creativity and AI. We're asking our employees to increasingly become “AI quarterbacks”—people who know how to use AI tools thoughtfully to expand their capabilities, work more efficiently, and increase the impact of what they can accomplish. For a creative professional, we see enormous opportunity to use AI throughout the process—from brainstorming and concept development to research, iteration, production, and repetitive tasks—while keeping human judgment, taste, and creativity at the center of the finished work. We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic and curious about AI, actively uses it to improve their work, and also understands its limitations. AI should amplify strong creative skills, not substitute for them. A solid foundation using AI tools effectively and a willingness to continually experiment with new ways to incorporate them into your workflow are requirements for this role. What We're Looking For
• 5+ years of professional graphic design experience.
• An exceptional portfolio demonstrating strong design craft and range across branding, typography, print, digital, and campaign work.
• Advanced proficiency with Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.
• Excellent typography, layout, composition, visual hierarchy, and branding skills.
• Experience designing for both print and digital applications.
• Strong print-production knowledge and experience preparing production-ready artwork.
• Strong image editing, retouching, and color-correction skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and take ownership from concept through completion.
• Ability to work full-time 5 days a week, in person from our Seattle office in Lower Queen Anne. Bonus Points We're primarily hiring for exceptional graphic design skills, so you don't need to check every box below. We'd also be interested in:
• Photography experience, particularly food or product photography.
• Experience with Adobe Lightroom, Figma, Premiere Pro, or other creative tools.
• Experience working across multiple brands or designing for both B2B and consumer audiences.
• Food, restaurant, hospitality, CPG, or specialty-product experience.
• Experience with web, email marketing, HTML/CSS, or WordPress.
• A strong interest in food and cooking. Why Marx Companies? This is a hands-on creative position with a lot of variety and ownership. Because we create so much of our marketing internally, you'll have the opportunity to see projects all the way through rather than designing one small piece of a larger process. You'll inherit years of existing brands, photography, and creative work while having plenty of opportunity to bring fresh ideas and a high level of design craft to what we create next. We're a long-established, family-owned company with a collaborative 5-person marketing team and products that are genuinely fun to market—great food from producers around the world. Benefits & Schedule This is a full-time, Monday–Friday, in-person position based in our Seattle office. This role is not remote or hybrid. Marx Companies offers competitive compensation, health benefits, paid time off, and a collaborative work environment. Salary Range: $80,000–$100,000 with competitive benefits. To Apply Please submit your resume and design portfolio, along with a thoughtful cover letter about yourself and why you’re interested in the role. A design portfolio is required for consideration.
