Senior Control Electronics Engineer

Location:
On-site, Los Angeles, CA (5 days/week in-office)

Salary:
$150K–$200K, flexibility up to $250K for exceptional candidates + meaningful long-term equity Sponsorship: not available. Must be a US citizen or Green Card holder. We're hiring a Senior Control Electronics Engineer at a fast-moving, well-funded defense production company building next-generation, flight-critical vehicle systems. You'll be a hands-on engineer who personally owns hardware from design through bring-up, debug, validation, and integration, not someone managing requirements from the sidelines. This is a high-impact role on a small, elite team. There are no systems engineers here, you define your own requirements and drive your own technical decisions on meaningful vehicle subsystems. The problem you'd help solve: Flight-critical defense systems demand real-time control electronics that work exactly right, with no room for ambiguity between hardware and the teams depending on it. This team owns that boundary directly: control electronics boards, motor controllers, actuator drivers, and feedback/control loops, built and integrated by the same people who designed them, working in close coordination with GNC, avionics, and flight software. You'll likely be a fit if you have:
• 3-15 years of experience in control/power electronics hardware design, including motor drivers or actuator controllers
• Hands-on ownership of hardware end-to-end, from PCB design through bring-up, integration, debug, and production
• Experience with microcontrollers, microprocessors, and mixed-signal circuits focused on real-time control
• Comfort defining your own requirements and driving technical decisions independently Nice to have:
• 3+ years from a top-tier, high-velocity hardware startup, if you're exceptional, this still counts even without 15 years behind you What you won't find here: This role won't suit you if you want a systems engineering layer between you and the hardware, or a slower-paced, more process-heavy environment. You own the full picture.
