Senior Geospatial Data Architect
Houston, TX | Hybrid | 1099 Contract | $120–$140/hour
ElevationHR is partnering with an established Houston-based energy and utility organization seeking a Senior Geospatial Data Architect to help shape the future of its enterprise geospatial data ecosystem.
This is not a traditional GIS Analyst role. We are looking for an experienced geospatial professional who has progressed from hands-on GIS development or engineering into architecture and can design how geospatial data is integrated, stored, consolidated, governed, and accessed at enterprise scale. You will help define the current-state and future-state geospatial data architecture while supporting the modernization of a complex enterprise data environment. The role will focus on consolidating fragmented geospatial data, designing scalable data lake and modern data-platform solutions, and aligning geospatial architecture with the broader enterprise data strategy. What You'll Do
• Define current-state and future-state geospatial data architecture
• Develop strategies to consolidate fragmented geospatial data
• Architect geospatial data ingestion, integration, storage, and accessibility
• Design scalable data lake and modern data-platform solutions
• Align geospatial architecture with enterprise data strategy
• Partner with geospatial SMEs, data engineers, architects, and technology leaders
• Support organizational adoption of Databricks What We're Looking For Required
• 10+ years of progressive technology, data, GIS, or related experience
• 7+ years of professional GIS/geospatial experience
• 3+ years of architecture or solution architecture experience
• Previous hands-on experience as a GIS/Geospatial Developer or Engineer
• Strong geospatial data architecture and integration experience
• Enterprise data lake, data platform, or lakehouse experience
• Practical Databricks experience or exposure
• Strong technical and stakeholder communication skills
• Bachelor's degree in GIS, Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related field; equivalent experience considered Preferred ArcGIS Enterprise, Python, SQL, spatial databases, ETL/ELT, cloud data platforms, data governance, and utility or infrastructure experience. Contract Details
• Pay: $120–$140/hour
• Engagement: 1099 Independent Contractor

Houston, TX
• Schedule: Monday–Thursday onsite in Downtown Houston; Friday remote
• Location Preference: Local Houston candidates preferred
• Relocation: No relocation assistance
• Work Authorization: U.
