Role Description This role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining backend security measures that protect game services, player data, and game integrity. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing and hardening backend systems, identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities, and implementing anti-cheat and anti-fraud mechanisms. The engineer will collaborate closely with gameplay, backend, and infrastructure teams to embed security best practices into the development lifecycle, monitor for suspicious activity, and respond to security incidents. The role also involves conducting code reviews with a security lens, maintaining security tooling and documentation, and contributing to policies that safeguard Counterspell’s online experiences.
Qualifications
• Candidates should possess strong skills in Application Security and Security Engineering, including secure coding practices, threat modeling, and vulnerability remediation.
• Candidates should possess skills in Network Security and Cybersecurity, including secure network architectures, intrusion detection, monitoring, and incident response.
• Candidates should possess skills in Information Security, including data protection, access control, risk assessment, and compliance with relevant security standards.
• Experience securing online games or interactive applications, especially game integrity systems such as anti-cheat and anti-fraud frameworks, is highly beneficial.
• Proficiency in at least one backend programming language (e.g., Go, C++, Java, C#, or Python) and familiarity with cloud platforms, containers, and microservices architectures.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional technical and creative teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience in security-focused engineering roles.
