Younity builds and operates the connectivity and building-technology infrastructure behind modern residential communities. We deliver managed internet and Wi-Fi to residents and common areas, support building owners and property managers, and operate low-voltage systems including CCTV, intercom, access control, and connected devices.
We’re hiring a hands-on Network Engineering Manager in New York City to lead our network engineering function. You’ll manage and develop the team, own technical standards and operational performance, and personally step into complex designs, outages, and escalations when needed.
This is not a purely administrative role. The right person can move comfortably between configuring a firewall, reviewing a wireless design, guiding an engineer through a difficult incident, and communicating clearly with a resident, property manager, or building owner.
If you’ve led technical teams in an ISP, MSP, managed Wi-Fi, enterprise, or building-technology environment, and still enjoy solving real production problems, this role was built for you.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
You’ll own network engineering end to end, leading a focused team of 2 engineers and shaping how we build and run every site.
• Lead, coach, and develop the network engineering team, setting clear priorities, ownership, performance expectations, and technical standards.
• Act as the technical and operational bridge between Engineering, Support, Field Operations, Project Management, Sales, and other teams.
• Design, deploy, and maintain production networks across a large portfolio of residential buildings and business customers, owning the reliability, security, and performance of managed internet, Wi-Fi, switching, routing, firewalls, VPNs, and customer-edge infrastructure.
• Oversee and support low-voltage and building IT systems, including CCTV, intercom, access control, and IoT devices.
• Serve as the senior escalation point for complex resident and B2B customer incidents, driving them end to end: diagnosis, field coordination, customer communication, root-cause analysis, and preventive follow-up.
• Plan and approve new-building deployments, migrations, upgrades, maintenance windows, and production changes, including site surveys and on-site due diligence.
• Build scalable processes, documentation, monitoring, and operational standards across hundreds of distributed sites.
• Partner with our automation team to turn repeatable diagnostics, configuration logic, and remediation steps into reliable tools and workflows.
• Manage vendors, carriers, contractors, and field technicians, ensuring work is technically correct, documented, and completed to Younity standards.
• Participate in the shared on-call rotation, leading response to critical incidents and planned maintenance when required. HOW WE WORK We're an ISP and managed-services company. Residents and building customers depend on us around the clock, so our operating principles are practical:
• Ownership. You own the outcome, not only your assigned piece, and you stay engaged until the customer-impacting problem is resolved.
• Investigate before escalating. Bring evidence, a working theory, and clear next steps—not only a question.
• Customer context matters. A technically correct answer is not enough if it does not solve the resident’s, property manager’s, or building operator’s actual problem.
• Calm urgency. Incidents require speed, structure, communication, and sound judgment—not panic.
• Hands-on leadership. Managers provide direction and accountability, but they also understand the systems deeply enough to challenge assumptions and help solve difficult problems.
• Shared Coverage. Our services run around the clock, so you will join a shared on-call rotation and support urgent incidents, after-hours maintenance, and customer-impacting events when needed. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Must-haves
• 5+ years of hands-on network engineering or operations experience in an ISP, MSP, managed Wi-Fi, or similar production environment.
• Experience leading engineers or technicians, and coordinating vendors and field staff.
• Strong knowledge of routing, switching, VLANs, DHCP, NAT, firewalls, VPNs, and multi-AP wireless.
• Experience supporting distributed, multi-site customer networks and owning incidents through permanent resolution.
• Comfort working with both technical and non-technical customers, from residents to building owners.
• Familiarity with Linux and with monitoring, ticketing, and remote-management tools.
• Willingness to join a shared on-call rotation, including occasional nights and weekends.
• Based in the NYC area, able to work primarily on-site, and currently authorized to work in the U.
S. We do not sponsor visas for this role.
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Younity does not sponsor employment visas for this position, and is unable to do so now or in the future. Nice-to-haves
• MDU, multifamily, or hospitality Wi-Fi experience.
• Experience with low-voltage systems (CCTV, intercom, access control) and the contractors who install them.
• Hands-on experience with Fortinet, Ruckus, UniFi, MikroTik, Aruba, Meraki, or similar platforms.
• Scripting, API, or automation skills. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
• Anticipated base salary of $160,000-$180,000, depending on skills and experience.
• Eligibility for medical, dental, and vision insurance.
• 401(k) plan with company match.
• Generous paid time off. ABOUT YOUNITY Younity is a growing connectivity and building-technology provider for multifamily properties. We’re automation-first: we automate monitoring, diagnostics, provisioning, and routine remediation so our engineers can focus on hard problems, not repetitive work. In this role, you’ll help decide what gets automated next.
