We are seeking an Engagement Communication Specialist to support communications, large‑scale guest events, mission‑critical tours, VIP engagements, media escorting, and public‑facing activities that showcase NASA’s work and mission. This role will develop and execute communications and engagement activities, coordinate high-visibility events and VIP experiences, and represent NASA Johnson to VIPs, executives, media, dignitaries, partner organizations, astronaut families, educators, and guests, ensuring that every product, event, and visit reflects NASA’s standards of excellence, safety, and hospitality.

Key Responsibilities
• Quickly gain fluency in NASA missions, programs, facilities, and target audiences.
• Develop and execute communications strategies and products that support NASA priorities, programs, events, and major milestones.
• Draft, edit, and coordinate communications materials, including talking points, correspondence, event materials, briefing materials, invitations, and other internal and external communications.
• Represent NASA at community, industry, educational, media, and other public-facing events, engaging diverse audiences and communicating NASA’s missions, programs, and the impact of its work.
• Coordinate and execute guest operations for high-visibility events including launches, mission milestones, crew return activities, and major agency engagements.
• Develop, manage, and vet guest lists for a variety of events from high-visibility events to employee and community events.
• Coordinate the approval and clearance process for guest attendance, ensuring compliance with NASA policies, security requirements, and leadership protocols.
• Design and maintain seating charts and event layouts for high-level events to ensure appropriate protocol placement and stakeholder representation.
• Manage and use various software to implement guest plans including but not limited to Salesforce and Eventbrite.
• Manage guest check-in processes for events, including credentialing, registration systems, on-site verification, and coordination with security teams.
• Support protocol requirements for distinguished visitors, senior NASA leadership, international delegations, and government officials.
• Plan and coordinate VIP tours of NASA’s Johnson Space Center, including itinerary development, stakeholder coordination, strategic collaboration, and logistical execution.
• Facilitate celebrity and high-profile guest engagements, including coordination with NASA leadership, legal, and security teams to ensure appropriate messaging and participation.
• Provide end-to-end event planning support including logistics, venue coordination, run-of-show development, guest flow, transportation, and contingency planning.
• Coordinate with internal NASA organizations, contractors, and external partners to ensure seamless execution of events and guest experiences.
• Lead and execute mission viewing events, employee engagement activities, and public-facing programs tied to major NASA milestones.
• Maintain accurate records and tracking systems for guest attendance, invitations, and event participation.
• Ensure all guest operations, events, and products align with NASA brand standards, communications guidance, and agency policies.
• Provide on-site event management and troubleshooting during events to ensure successful execution and positive guest experiences.
• Contribute to post-event reporting, lessons learned documentation, and process improvements for future events. What We’re Looking For
