Austin, Texas, United States Subcritical Systems Inc Full-time
ABOUT SUBCRITICAL SYSTEMS Subcritical Systems, Inc. is a venture-backed startup in Austin, Texas building accelerator-driven systems and the only US commercial manufacturer of accelerator cavities. What SpaceX did for rockets, we plan to do for accelerator cavities and commercialize across applications of power production, medical isotopes and semiconductors. We are in the process of building an accelerator-driven system, a novel nuclear fission system in which a particle accelerator drives a subcritical core, making meltdown physically impossible for clean power production. Due to its inherent safety, our system has a more streamlined licensing process. Our founding team includes successful entrepreneurs with a track record of building several multibillion dollar companies in deep-tech, and scientists who were leading U.
S. national labs with deep experience in accelerator & nuclear technologies. We are actively hiring to expand our team as we work toward licensing, regulatory submissions, and construction of our first accelerator-driven system. More information is available at subcritical.com. ROLE SUMMARY Subcritical Systems is seeking a Marketing Associate to help us tell our story. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role for someone who lives at the intersection of strategy, creativity, and execution. You will work closely with our leadership team to develop and communicate key messaging that makes our technology progress clear, accurate, and compelling to even non-technical audiences. This is a fast-paced, hands-on, in-house role. You will own the day-to-day coordination of our content and posting as SSI reaches major company milestones, turning a technical update into a social post in the morning and a short video by the afternoon using AI tools. This is a role with significant scope for impact, and we welcome candidates with backgrounds in technology, energy, or B2B marketing and communications, or related industries.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Brand Strategy & Positioning. Support the evolution of SSI's brand identity, ensuring consistency and resonance across audiences (investors, government, partners, future employees, and the broader public).
• Creative Campaign Development. Help execute campaigns and content that highlight SSI's mission, technology, and milestones.
• Digital Presence & Posting. Coordinate day-to-day posting across social media and the website, managing the content calendar through high-volume periods such as launches and announcements.
• Content & Messaging Development. Craft clear, compelling narratives across press releases, social posts, and website copy, using AI tools to produce video and graphics quickly.
• Events & Partnerships. Support conferences, speaking opportunities, and partnerships to enhance visibility and credibility.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration. Partner closely with technical, business development, and executive teams to ensure content reflects strategic goals and technical milestones, routing technical content through internal review before publication. QUALIFICATIONS Required
• Experience supporting marketing, communications, PR, or content projects, ideally at a startup, tech company, agency, or media outlet.
• A strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, and what makes content perform.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented, able to manage a content calendar and coordinate a high volume of posts across channels and stakeholders.
• Excellent writing skills across press releases, social posts, website copy, and long-form content.
• Hands-on proficiency with AI tools for video, image, and content creation, along with standard editing and design tools and digital platforms (e.g., social media management, analytics tools).
• The ability to learn complex technical topics quickly and explain them clearly and accurately.
• Comfort working with press, executives, and external advisors, with sound judgment about what to share and when.
• A fast, self-directed approach and a willingness to take on tasks at every level.
• Sound judgment, initiative, and a strong work ethic. We value demonstrated capability and results over specific qualifications or a prescribed number of years of experience. Preferred
• Experience in energy, nuclear, climate tech, deep tech, or hardware.
• Existing relationships with journalists and media outlets.
• Experience managing website content.
• Photography, videography, or motion graphics experience.
• Experience with event planning, brand campaigns, or partnership activations.
