ABOUT PRETTY DAMAGE Pretty Damage is a Los Angeles-based womenswear label specializing in wholesale and direct-to-consumer retail. Inspired by '90s and 2000s grunge nostalgia and underground nightlife, Pretty Damage creates contemporary alternative womenswear with a distinct design identity. As a growing fashion label, we're looking for a creative, passionate, and detail-oriented Assistant Designer to join our team and contribute to the development of upcoming collections. Instagram: @prettydamage.label Website: www.shopprettydamage.com POSITION OVERVIEW Pretty Damage is seeking a full-time Assistant Apparel Designer to join our team in Vernon, CA. The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of professional apparel design experience and a strong understanding of fashion design, garment construction, fabrics, and the product development process from initial concept through final production. This position will work closely with the Head Designer to assist with trend research, collection development, technical sketches, fabric and trim sourcing, sample development, fittings, and photoshoots. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Research emerging fashion trends, silhouettes, fabrics, trims, and market trends relevant to the brand.
• Assist the Head Designer with developing seasonal collections, mood boards, and design concepts.
• Create technical flat sketches and assist with preparing tech packs and design specifications.
• Source and research fabrics, trims, and design details for new developments.
• Assist with sample development and communicate design revisions to the production team.
• Participate in fittings and assist with fit comments, garment measurements, and sample revisions.
• Track and organize development samples, fabric swatches, trims, and design references.
• Collaborate with merchandising, fit, and production teams throughout the development process.
• Prepare and organize samples for buyer meetings, photoshoots, and collection presentations.
• Attend photoshoots and assist with styling, sample coordination, and overall shoot preparation.
• Support the Head Designer with daily design tasks and special projects. QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in apparel design or an Assistant Designer role required.
• Degree in Fashion Design or a related field preferred.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Ability to create technical flat sketches and understand tech packs.
• Strong knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, trims, and fit.
• Understanding of the apparel development process from concept through production.
• Strong trend research skills and a creative eye for silhouettes and design details.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
