Responsibilities Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following

responsibilities:
Lead the design of HVAC systems for educational, institutional, multifamily, municipal, state-agency, transportation, and infrastructure facilities. Develop HVAC designs involving chillers, boilers, steam systems, DX systems, heating and ventilation equipment, exhaust systems, hydronic systems, and associated controls. Prepare cooling and heating load calculations, equipment selections, duct and piping layouts, system sizing, engineering calculations, design narratives, reports, specifications, and construction drawings. Prepare and oversee design documents for permitting, bidding, and construction. Conduct site surveys, field investigations, existing-conditions assessments, and construction observations. Review construction documents prepared by internal teams and outside consultants for technical accuracy, constructability, code compliance, and coordination. Coordinate mechanical designs with architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and other disciplines. Manage mechanical engineering assignments from conceptual and schematic design through design development, construction documents, bidding, construction administration, and project closeout. Lead design reviews and quality-control activities and ensure that project deliverables meet applicable standards and client requirements. Review shop drawings, product data, equipment submittals, RFIs, substitutions, change proposals, and record documents. Attend and lead project meetings with clients, agencies, consultants, contractors, and internal project teams. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers. Support project planning, scope development, schedules, budgets, cost estimates, quantity take-offs, and staffing needs. Maintain effective communication with clients and project stakeholders and help resolve technical and construction-related issues. Travel within New York and New Jersey for site visits and project meetings, up to 25%. Requirements Essential Skills and

Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university. Minimum of 10 years of mechanical engineering design experience, including substantial experience with HVAC systems. Professional Engineer license in New York preferred. Experience with New York City projects and familiarity with NYCHA, PANYNJ, SCA, and other public-agency requirements. Strong knowledge of New York City codes and applicable international codes and standards, including IBC, IMC, IECC, ASHRAE, and NFPA. Advanced understanding of HVAC system types, chillers, boilers, steam and DX systems, controls, sequences of operation, duct sizing, pipe sizing, equipment selection, psychrometrics, and load calculations. Demonstrated ability to manage projects from design through construction administration. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit. Experience with HVAC load-calculation software such as Trane TRACE, HAP, or equivalent. Proficiency with Bluebeam and Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel. Ability to prepare clear technical reports, engineering analyses, specifications, and construction documents. Strong project management, coordination, analytical, quality-control, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written, verbal, and client-facing communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary and geographically distributed teams. Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet project deadlines. Curiosity and interest in continuous learning in AI, with comfort experimenting and iterating quickly and using data to validate ideas and measure impact.
