Full-Time | On-Site Lead a Safety-Critical Transloading Operation Road & Rail Services is seeking an experienced Terminal Manager to lead our Indianapolis transloading operation. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for employees, safety, customer service, productivity, and the daily movement of commodities between railcars and trucks. IMPORTANT: Hazardous Chemical Experience Is Required A significant part of this operation involves the transfer and handling of ethanol and other high-risk materials. Candidates must have previous professional experience working with hazardous/high-risk chemicals or materials in an industrial, terminal, transportation, chemical, fuel, or transloading environment. Ethanol transfer is a major function of this terminal. The Terminal Manager must understand the heightened safety requirements associated with transferring flammable materials and be comfortable overseeing employees performing ethanol transloading activities. Applicants without applicable hazardous chemical/material handling experience will not meet the minimum experience requirements for this position. Responsibilities What You'll Be Responsible For As Terminal Manager, you will oversee the safe and efficient operation of the Indianapolis terminal while remaining actively involved with your team. Responsibilities include:
• Oversee daily ethanol transfer and transloading operations
• Ensure hazardous materials are handled according to established safety procedures and regulatory requirements
• Lead the transfer of commodities between railcars and tanker trucks/trailers
• Supervise, train, coach, and develop terminal employees
• Ensure employees understand proper procedures for ethanol and other commodity transfers
• Maintain a strong safety culture in an environment involving flammable and potentially hazardous materials
• Monitor employee performance, staffing, productivity, quality, and operational efficiency
• Ensure required inspections, paperwork, and operational documentation are completed accurately
• Maintain compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, FRA, DOT, company, and customer requirements
• Monitor expenses and operational performance while supporting established P&L goals
• Investigate operational or safety concerns and implement corrective actions
• Maintain strong communication with customers and company leadership
• Step into the operation and assist the team when business needs require additional support
• In addition to ethanol, the terminal may handle plastic pellets, food-grade materials, and other commodities based on customer requirements. Qualifications Required Experience & Qualifications
• Previous experience handling or overseeing hazardous/high-risk chemicals or materials – REQUIRED
• Experience working around flammable materials such as ethanol, fuels, petroleum products, industrial chemicals, or similar regulated commodities
• Ethanol transfer/transloading experience strongly desired
• At least 2 years of management or operational leadership experience
• Experience managing budgets, expenses, productivity, or P&L performance
• Strong understanding of industrial safety procedures and the importance of strict procedural compliance
• Experience supervising and developing employees in an industrial environment
• Strong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities
• Experience within chemical handling, fuel terminals, bulk liquid transfer, rail transloading, transportation, logistics, manufacturing, or terminal operations is especially relevant to this position. Required Skills

• Veteran-friendly workplace Work Environment This is not a desk-only management position. The Terminal Manager must be comfortable working directly within an active industrial and rail environment. You must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, work around railcars and tanker trucks, climb rail equipment when necessary, wear all required PPE, and maintain a flexible schedule based on customer and operational demands. Because ethanol is a primary commodity transferred at this location, strict attention to safety procedures is essential.
