About The Role
Turing is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to develop, improve, and maintain software products for client projects. In this remote role, you will work with engineers, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver reliable solutions. You will contribute throughout the development lifecycle, from technical planning and implementation to testing, release, and ongoing improvement. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently in a distributed environment, communicates clearly, and approaches technical challenges with curiosity and care. You should be able to balance delivery needs with sound engineering practices, adapt to changing project requirements, and take ownership of your work. Project technologies and responsibilities may vary depending on client needs and your experience. Qualifications Applicants should have professional experience building and maintaining software applications, along with a strong grasp of programming fundamentals, data structures, and software design principles. Practical experience with one or more programming languages and relevant frameworks is expected. Familiarity with version control, code review, automated testing, and collaborative development workflows is also important. You should be able to investigate problems, evaluate possible solutions, and explain technical decisions to both technical and nontechnical colleagues. Experience working with APIs, databases, cloud platforms, or distributed systems is valuable, depending on the project. A degree in computer science or a related field may be helpful, but equivalent professional experience and demonstrated skills are also relevant. Successful candidates will be organized, dependable, receptive to feedback, and able to work effectively across time zones. Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and maintain software that meets agreed product and business requirements. Work with team members to clarify project goals, break work into manageable tasks, and estimate effort. Write readable, maintainable code that follows established standards, and participate in code reviews to support quality and knowledge sharing. Identify and resolve defects, performance issues, and technical risks. Create and maintain appropriate tests, documentation, and implementation notes. Collaborate with product, design, quality assurance, and engineering colleagues to deliver features and improvements. Contribute to discussions about architecture, tools, and development practices, and communicate progress, blockers, and trade-offs in a timely manner. Continue learning relevant technologies and apply that knowledge to improve the reliability and effectiveness of the team’s work.
