Iona Senior Services is seeking an experienced Nutrition Program Manager – Ward 3 to lead nutrition services, compliance, and programming for older adults across Ward 3.
The Nutrition Program Manager serves as Iona’s nutrition subject matter expert for assigned programs and is responsible for the overall management and compliance of Ward 3 nutrition services. This position directly supervises Nutrition Coordinators at Saint Albans and Regency House and provides nutrition counseling, education, high-risk nutrition assessments, and individualized care planning. The role also provides nutrition care plan support and compliance oversight to Iona’s Adult Day Health Program and external Lead Agency partner JSSA.
This is an excellent opportunity for a licensed nutrition professional who enjoys combining clinical nutrition, staff leadership, community programming, grant compliance, and services for older adults.
Key Responsibilities
Nutrition Program Oversight & Compliance
• Oversee nutrition services and DACL compliance across Ward 3.
• Provide training and technical assistance to Nutrition Coordinators and site staff on food safety, nutrition standards, screening requirements, and documentation.
• Conduct regular site visits to monitor food handling, sanitation, nutrition service delivery, and compliance.
• Oversee intake and nutrition screening processes and ensure required documentation meets DACL standards.
• Provide site-level nutrition support and coverage as needed. Nutrition Counseling & Education
• Maintain a caseload of participants receiving individualized nutrition counseling.
• Assess dietary needs, nutrition goals, medically indicated dietary considerations, and participants identified as high nutritional risk.
• Develop and update individualized nutrition care plans in collaboration with clinical and program staff.
• Develop and deliver culturally responsive nutrition education programming for older adults.
• Provide nutrition consultation and technical assistance to Iona’s Adult Day Health Program and JSSA. Community Nutrition Programming
• Plan and lead quarterly nutrition clinics within Ward 3.
• Develop programming focused on topics such as healthy aging, chronic disease management, and food security.
• Coordinate clinic logistics, community partnerships, participation tracking, and outcome reporting. Staff Leadership
• Directly supervise Nutrition Coordinators at Saint Albans and Regency House.
• Provide coaching, feedback, training, technical assistance, and performance management.
• Promote consistency, accountability, and collaboration across Ward 3 nutrition services. Data, Reporting & Grant Support
• Ensure timely and accurate submission of participant and nutrition program data.
• Monitor documentation and reporting for accuracy and compliance.
• Support DACL and non-DACL grant reporting and provide nutrition-related program data and outcome information.
• Represent Iona’s nutrition services at relevant community and DACL meetings. What We’re Looking For
• Licensed Dietitian or Nutritionist in the District of Columbia required.
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, preferably working with older adults in a community-based or congregate dining environment.
• Experience providing nutrition counseling, education, and compliance oversight.
• Supervisory experience and demonstrated ability to coach and develop staff.
• ServSafe certification required.
• Strong organizational, communication, data-management, problem-solving, and cultural competency skills.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for community and site-based work.
