Job Summary
Maple Springs High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join our dynamic faculty. The ideal candidate will inspire students to appreciate literature, enhance their writing skills, and develop critical thinking abilities. This full-time position requires a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment and engaging students in meaningful discussions about various texts and themes.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with state standards and the school curriculum.
- Teach a variety of English courses, including literature, composition, and creative writing, to students in grades 9-12.
- Assess and evaluate student performance through assignments, projects, and examinations, providing constructive feedback to support their growth.
- Foster a classroom environment that encourages student participation, creativity, and critical thinking.
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate interdisciplinary approaches and enhance the overall educational experience.
- Organize and participate in extracurricular activities, such as literary clubs or writing competitions, to promote a love of reading and writing.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Stay current with educational best practices and participate in professional development opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other required documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid teaching certification in English for grades 9-12.
- Strong understanding of English language arts curriculum and instructional strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students and foster a supportive classroom environment.
- Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Proficient in using technology and digital resources to enhance teaching and learning.
- Commitment to continuous professional growth and development.
- Previous teaching experience in a high school setting is preferred but not required.
