The China team is seeking a Senior Associate to support the practice with client service, project delivery, and business development. As a Senior Associate, you will play an active role on client teams, working closely with clients and internal teams to understand client objectives, conduct research, develop solutions, and draft client-facing products and strategic advice. You will apply strong analytical thinking, writing, and problem-solving skills to support day-to-day client engagement and project execution. The Senior Associate will contribute to a range of client products, including reports, presentations, stakeholder maps, market and policy analyses, risk assessments, and executive briefing materials, while helping to drive innovation across DGA-ASG’s broader Asia practice.

Location 
Washington, DC (hybrid, with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office)⯠

Responsibilities

  • Works collaboratively with project teams on complex engagements
  • Conducts research and analysis on Chinese domestic politics, economic policy, regulatory developments, foreign policy, and regional geopolitics to support client objectives 
  • Conducts primary-source research in Chinese, including reviewing government documents, policy announcements, regulatory guidance, state media, think tank publications, and other Chinese-language sources 
  • Produces high-quality, client-specific content that supports client’s strategic objectives.
  • Supports the preparation of executives and leadership activities, including travel to China and the broader Asia-Pacific region through tailored briefings, stakeholder analysis, and meeting preparation materials 
  • Serves more often in client-facing roles, building relationships and contributing to client strategy
  • Strengthens independent problem-solving and professional judgment
  • Begins to anticipate client needs, identify risks, and suggest solutions under supervision.
  • Actively contributes to firm initiatives and supports team development

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of relevant prior professional experience in a government, think tank, or industry association role relevant to China 
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher or equivalent and relevant work experience
  • Strong understanding of Chinese domestic policy, economic priorities, and regional geopolitics
  • Advanced Chinese language skills  
  • Proven research skills, including experience with and/or ability to conduct primary resource research in Chinese  
  • Excellent presentation, writing, and analytical skills
  • Highly proficient in PowerPoint and other MS Office tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with a proactive approach to networking and stakeholder engagement
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with creative, solution-oriented, problem-solving skills
