Job Summary: Tax Accountant II (Remote, PST Hours)
About the Role
Join a dynamic, industry-leading consumer/retail company as a Tax Accountant II. In this fully remote, Seattle-based role, you will play a critical part in driving tax compliance, supporting payroll tax operations, and implementing process improvements within a collaborative Finance team. This 12-month contract position offers exposure to complex tax environments and the chance to expand your expertise with cutting-edge tools and processes.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and file required payroll tax forms accurately and on time
- Balance daily payments, process, and reconcile stock transactions
- Respond promptly to tax inquiries and manage the team tax inbox
- Analyze large data sets for audit support and ensure compliance
- Update tax authority records and maintain accurate documentation
- Drive payroll tax process improvements and recommend best practices
- Identify and resolve issues within payroll tax processes
- Provide consultation and propose updates to procedures based on business or legislative changes
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in tax accounting
- At least 2 years of hands-on payroll tax experience (payments, reconciliations, filings)
- Proficient in EC-Payroll/Employee Central Payroll
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Experience using tax compliance software and supporting database tools (e.g., SAP, Success Factors, ADP, ECP)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Skills
- Experience with multi-state and provincial tax reporting and filing
- Knowledge of federal, state, local, and provincial labor law
- Customer service background
- Experience with Canadian payroll
