Position Focus
During this appointment, you will be jointly advised by Drs. Kia Nobre and Nick Turk-Browne. During your period as a postdoctoral research fellow, you will investigate the neural systems for navigation and memory, their plasticity, and how they proactively guide behavior. Planned projects will use multiple advanced behavioral and neuroscientific methods, such as eye tracking, motion capture, cave automatic virtual environment (CAVE), scalp and intracranial neurophysiological recordings, and brain imaging. The position will provide ample educational and training opportunities. You will be integrated into a highly interdisciplinary context, with access to talks, seminars, workshops, and conferences in multiple disciplines relevant to your research – psychology, neuroscience, engineering, and computer science. You will be part of two research groups (Nobre, TurkBrowne), which hold a joint weekly lab meeting, as well as individual lab meetings. These meetings broaden scholarship and provide opportunities to develop presentation skills and provide feedback on experimental design, methods applications, and scientific interpretation. Formal training in the advanced human neuroscience methods will be provided by the BrainWorks core facility at the Wu Tsai Institute. In addition, BrainWorks hosts several talks, master classes, and workshops designed to provide training in human neuroscience methods.You will meet regularly with your advisors (Nobre, Turk-Browne) to discuss aims, progress, challenges, and plans for the research, as well as matters related to career development. In addition, you will benefit from the various activities and support structures provided by the Yale Office for Postdoctoral Affairs, Yale Postdoctoral Association, Psychology, and the WTI Postbac and Postdoc Collective (SPPC).
