Bellos is a modern African Caribbean restaurant and lounge in the heart of Richmond’s Shockoe Bottom. We blend the vibrant flavors, music, and culture of Africa and the Caribbean into an elevated dining and social experience. Our two-level venue transitions from a refined dinner service to a lively lounge atmosphere, attracting both local professionals and nightlife enthusiasts.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Bartender to join our dynamic team at Bellos Lounge & Restaurant. The ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge of mixology, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. As a Bartender, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our guests’ experience by crafting innovative cocktails, serving beverages, and providing top-notch service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including cocktails, beer, wine, and soft drinks.
- Create unique and signature cocktails that align with the restaurant's theme and seasonal offerings.
- Provide excellent customer service by engaging with guests, taking drink orders, and making recommendations based on preferences.
- Maintain a clean and organized bar area, ensuring that all equipment and inventory are stocked and in proper working order.
- Check identification to verify the legal age of customers and comply with all alcohol-serving regulations.
- Handle cash and credit transactions accurately and responsibly.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff and other team members to ensure a seamless dining experience.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new drink recipes, and cocktail techniques.
- Promote the bar’s specials and events, enhancing guest engagement and visibility.
Qualifications:
- 1+ years bartending experience
- Previous bartending experience in a fast-paced environment is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of mixology, drink recipes, and beverage service techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a friendly and outgoing demeanor.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Basic math skills for handling cash and processing transactions.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
- TIPS or similar alcohol training certification is a plus.
- Knowledge of rum and tropical cocktails a plus
