Job Description:
Role Overview
As a Senior Software Developer – Manufacturing Execution System (MES), you will play a key role in designing and developing advanced MES solutions using Siemens OpCenter Discrete module and associated technologies for one of our prestigious clients.
This is a highly hands-on role requiring strong expertise in the MES domain, including Siemens OpCenter Discrete, Mendix, Siemens Advanced Planning & Scheduling (Client), and integrations with Ignition and shop-floor systems. The position focuses on delivering robust, scalable, and resilient MES solutions, with a strong emphasis on automation and real-time manufacturing visibility.
You will translate manufacturing process requirements into integrated technical solutions that enable end-to-end control across the production value chain, while driving high quality through standardization, testing, and best development practices.
Core Responsibilities
MES Solutions Leadership & Development
Lead the design, development, and architectural review of high-complexity UI and backend solutions within the Siemens OpsCenter Discrete and Mendix MES product suite.
Drive customization, documentation, implementation, and deployment of MES capabilities.
Design and develop scalable Siemens OpCenter Discrete MES solutions for complex manufacturing processes and New Product Introductions.
Establish and own standardized MES design, development, and integration best practices, including code quality standards and review templates, ensuring regulatory compliance.
Own the creation and maintenance of MES reports, dashboards, and KPIs to provide real-time business and manufacturing insights.
Ensure all project deliverables meet defined scope, quality standards, and timelines.
Implement and integrate automated testing frameworks to improve QA efficiency and reliability.
Act as the primary owner for root-cause analysis, major production incidents, and long-term corrective solutions.
Design, develop, review, and maintain highly complex database objects, including SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions to ensure data integrity and performance.
Participate in code reviews and pair programming to improve overall team code quality.
Drive and maintain the multi-year MES technical and application roadmap, aligned with business objectives.
Mentor and coach junior developers through continuous on-the-job training and technical guidance.
Promote collaboration through knowledge sharing, constructive feedback, and best practices.
Work effectively within an Agile development environment, demonstrating adaptability and ownership.
Preferred Functional Expertise
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and techno-functional experience delivering Manufacturing IT solutions in Manufacturing or Automotive Industry is highly desirable.
Preferred Technical Integrations
Proven experience integrating Siemens OpCenter Discrete with enterprise platforms.
Hands-on integration experience with PLM, ERP (NetSuite preferred), CRM, and Dealer Management Systems (DMS).
Proven ability to design and develop scalable, future-ready MES solutions through extensive hands-on development experience.
Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
Experience
8–10 years of experience in application and enterprise software development.
