Job Title: Home Based Education Supervisor
Department: Early Learning Center - Home Based
Reports To: Program Manager, Early Learning Center
FLSA Status: Fulltime / Exempt
Location: Chicago, IL 60651
Pay Range: $60,000 - $67,000
SUMMARY
The Home Based Education Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the Home Based Education program operates effectively and meets and exceeds performance standards. This position ensures that families receive comprehensive services through their participation in the program, including health and social services, disability services, early childhood education and care services and parent development training opportunities. The Home Based Education Supervisor is responsible for recruitment and enrollment for the Home Based Education program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Coordinates, monitors and assesses the operations and effectiveness of the Home Based Education program and participates in programmatic planning.
- Ensures appropriate and effective service delivery to families by monitoring documentation, engaging in the continuous improvement process and connecting service delivery to program outcomes, thus helping children, families and the program to reach their goals.
- Supervises Parent Educators and Family Support Specialist and provides individual, reflective supervision for each employee.
- Is responsible for staff development including observation, training, performance evaluation, supervision, clinical expertise, program coordination and integration; provides individualized mentoring and coaching for employees on a regular, consistent basis.
- Assists with supervision of the Early Childhood Education program in the absence of the Program Manager.
- Provides guidance and training to program staff to enhance home based teaching strategies.
- Provides guidance, support and suggestions to the home based education staff to meet and exceed Early Head Start performance standards.
- Ensures staff knowledge, understanding and ability to implement Baby Talk or other home based education curriculum.
- Assists parents, Parent Educators and Family Support Specialist with transitioning children to a 3-5 early childhood program, as appropriate.
- Monitors the Home Based Education program on an ongoing basis and ensures integration with other service areas (disabilities, health, nutrition, etc.)
- Keeps records, establishes procedures for special situations and monitors and tracks all activities in the Home Based Education program.
- Communicates regularly with the Program Manager to receive guidance, report progress, plan new strategies, discuss problems and receive information on program policies and procedures.
- Attends Early Head Start meetings as needed.
- Schedules, coordinates and facilitates multidisciplinary staffing's for children and families; attends program meetings, trainings and All Staff Meetings.
- Completes intakes for new children in the Home Based Education program.
- Maintains the confidentiality of information and records related to children and families in the Home Based Education program at all times.
- Participates in Children’s Place quality assurance initiatives as needed and appropriate to improve service quality and ensure compliance with licensing, accreditation and contractual standards.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as necessary to meet new funding requirements or as assigned by the Program Manager.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
In conjunction with the Program Manager, the Home Based Education Supervisor will supervise Parent Educators/Home Visitors and the Family Support Specialist for the Home Based Education program.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION, SKILLS, and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Illinois Gateways Infant/Toddler credential required within 12 months of hire.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a Head Start or Early Head Start environment in a leadership or supervisory role required. Must have experience training and supervising early childhood education teachers.
- Knowledge of Early Head Start performance standards required. Experience with home based education programs preferred.
- Must have experience working with and serving families from diverse backgrounds, as well as familiarity working with children and adults with disabilities.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) written and verbal communication skills preferred.
