Summary
The Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) Associate Teacher at New Haven Pre K plays a vital role in supporting early childhood education for children aged 4 to 5 years. This part-time position is designed for individuals who are passionate about fostering a nurturing and engaging learning environment. The GSRP Associate Teacher will work collaboratively with lead teachers to implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and support the academic, social, and emotional growth of each child.
Hours:
7:45-3:15 M-TH (30 minute unpaid break), 7:45-11:45 F
Hired through Third-Party Contract - Edustaff
Responsibilities
- Assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing daily lesson plans that align with GSRP standards and objectives.
- Teaching Strategies/Creative Curriculum experience preferred.
- Support children in their learning activities, encouraging participation and providing individualized attention as needed.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, cooperation, and a love for learning.
- Monitor and document children’s progress and behavior, providing feedback to the lead teacher.
- Help maintain a safe and clean classroom environment, ensuring that materials and resources are organized and accessible.
- Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers regarding children’s progress and classroom activities.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities as required.
- Assist with the preparation and implementation of assessments and evaluations of children's development.
- Collaborate with other staff members to support the overall goals of the GSRP program.
Requirements
- Associate in Early Childhood Education or Child Development OR valid Center-Based Birth to Five CDA credential OR valid Center-Based Preschool CDA credential.
- Previous experience working with young children in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of child development principles and early childhood education practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
- Patience, creativity, and a genuine passion for working with young children.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology.
- Must pass background checks and meet any state licensing requirements.
- Availability to work part-time hours, with flexibility to accommodate program needs.
