Position Summary

The Shift Manager supports the General Manager in leading the restaurant team to consistently deliver outstanding customer experiences. This role is responsible for managing shift operations, supervising employees, ensuring food quality and safety standards, and achieving daily business goals.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & People Development

• Supervise, coach, and motivate crew members during assigned shifts
• Delegate tasks and monitor performance to ensure operational excellence
• Assist with training new hires on company policies, procedures, and food preparation standards
• Provide constructive feedback and recognize employee achievements
• Foster a positive and inclusive work environment

Operations & Customer Service

• Ensure prompt, friendly, and accurate service to all guests
• Address and resolve customer concerns in a professional manner
• Monitor food preparation for consistency, accuracy, and adherence to Hungry Howie’s recipes and standards
• Oversee order accuracy for carry-out, delivery, and dine-in customers
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in all areas of the restaurant

Financial & Administrative

• Perform opening and closing duties including cash handling, safe counts, and deposit preparation
• Control labor and food costs by managing shift schedules and minimizing waste
• Assist with inventory management, ordering, and product rotation
• Accurately complete shift reports, paperwork, and compliance checklists

Safety & Compliance

• Enforce compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health standards (ServSafe knowledge preferred)
• Ensure employees follow all safety protocols and company policies
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of leadership experience in quick-service, pizza, or retail environments (preferred)
• Strong leadership, organizational, and time-management skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Basic math and computer skills (POS system experience a plus)
• Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license (required for delivery supervision)
• Must be at least 18 years old

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 30 pounds during shifts
• Comfortable working in hot/cold environments (kitchen, ovens, freezers)
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
