Job Title: Lab Shipping & Receiving Technician Location: Hopkinton, MA Job Description: The Lab Shipping & Receiving Technician supports daily laboratory operations by reviewing incoming orders, handling sample intake, performing gravimetric analyses, preparing media, and managing shipping tasks. This role requires strong organization, communication, and computer skills to ensure accuracy and efficiency across all workflows. Responsibilities: Review emails and media orders at the start of the day. Analyze gravimetric samples or prepare media for several hours. Receive UPS and FedEx deliveries, open incoming sample boxes, and verify contents against the Chain of Custody documentation. Communicate with customers and the Production Coordinator regarding any sample issues. Log received samples into the laboratorys LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System). Prepare outgoing media shipments and generate UPS shipping labels. Enter newly received chemicals into the chemical inventory system (sealed, unopened solvents/metals; no exposure or handling involved). Follow all laboratory quality procedures and receive necessary training. Key Responsibilities: Utilize the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to complete data entry of submitted samples. Collect and package media listed on Media Order form independently and ship media orders to clients. Perform gravimetric analysis of air samples prior to preparation of sample for contaminant specific analysis following the labs quality control procedures. Assemble and prepare air sampling media for industrial hygienists and external clients. Written and verbal interaction with clients will be necessary to support media requests and sample log-in. Skills needed: Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently are all strong attributes of a successful candidate. Strong organizational skills are required. Able to easily adopt new technology. Knowledge of MS Office. Familiarity with computers and able to learn various programs quickly. Knowledge of a LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) is preferred but not required.
